M5 Manatee by EINSCHLAG

Long-Range Deep-Sea Explorer
The Manatee is a compact exploration submarine designed for versatility and operational independence. Featuring comprehensive labeling throughout, this submersible can be operated by a single person while supporting crews of up to three for extended missions.

It combines diesel as well as electric propulsion with multiple automated systems, redundant backups, and manual overrides for maximum reliability.

Built for deep-sea exploration and emergency response, the Manatee integrates advanced navigation systems with practical exploration capabilities like an integrated moonpool. Automatic heading and depth hold systems, combined with powerful dual-mode engines, enable precise operations at depths while maintaining 25-knot sprint capability.

Perfect for extended expeditions, this submarine features full living quarters, comprehensive safety systems, and single-operator capability. Whether conducting deep-sea research, performing rescue operations, or exploring uncharted waters, the Manatee delivers professional-grade performance in a compact platform. It also includes a detachable dinghy to extend its operational flexibility.

This vehicle offers:
  • Easy operation with automatic heading and depth hold
  • Top speed (submerged): 25 knots
  • Cruising speed (submerged): 20 knots
  • Optimal crew size: 1-3
  • Moonpool for underwater exploration or repairs
  • Extendable periscope (with infrared and zoom capabilities; doubles as additional air compressor intake when submerged)
  • Two beds, kitchen, toilet, shower and more
  • Radar, sonar and transponder triangulator
  • Two diesel-powered engines that can be used for propulsion or as generators
  • Manually operated detachable dinghy (all operated with cranks) for shore excursions or emergencies
  • Flying bridge for basic driving functionality from on top of the sub
  • Air quality monitors & air filter system
  • Collision avoidance system
  • Automatic & manual bilge pumps
  • Automatic air compressors (repressurizing air tanks when surfaced)
  • Automatic heaters (arctic ready)
  • Reserve air tanks
  • Outboard pump that can be used for multiple purposes (i.e. refueling other ships or the sub itself)
  • Comprehensive lighting setup
  • Top and bottom docking hatches
  • Lockable exterior access
  • Emergency exit hatch
  • Plenty of equipment for various missions and emergencies
  • ...and much more!

Note: Spawns with water in the balance tanks by default to achieve neutral buoyancy. You can set the fluid spawners in the bow and stern ballast tanks to 0% to let it spawn surfaced – they are marked red.

How to use the moonpool
  1. Make sure the vessel is stable (Enable active depth hold)
  2. Make sure there is plenty of air pressure in the system
  3. Equip diving gear
  4. Enable the moonpool systems (Key over the entrance hatch)
  5. Sit down in the moonpool and close the entrance hatch
  6. Enable the button to open the moonpool
  7. The moonpool will flood a bit until the pressure increases enough to push the water outside
  8. Now you can use the moonpool freely
  9. When done, just sit down again and close the moonpool; You can wait for the water to be drained and the pressure to normalize or directly open the entrance hatch
  10. The vessel will absorb the air back into the air tanks to decrease the pressure

Yeah, it flips itself over time, no idea why (changed physics, doesn't help)

also it would be cool to make a large submarine

@MAX_131 Thanks!
You can try to spam jump when you reach the top. Maybe I'll find another solution.

Nice creation. but
It is difficult to climb from the submarine below to the submarine above using the ladder in the hatch room. If you get off the ladder , you will fall down.

@LBS1210 The "O" stands for Output (Generator Output). I'm open to changing that if there are any suggestions. :')

There are separate monitors showing O2-Level and other air quality stats. You can replenish breathable air by turning on the air filters. I hope that helps.

@AK_TO_THE_N20 For some reason I wanted to build one where you would have to crouch. My next one will likely be walkable. :'D

Yes, I'm from Germany.
