There is not a single good person in this game, I promise. Every person you find in a public lobby is either a narcissist, a drug addict, an alcoholic, a PDF file, mentally ill, or just horny. There is not a single good reason to play it - since 90% of the people you meet fall into one of the groups I mentioned - and those who try to defend it are just coping.
You can tell it's supposed to be a social game because worlds that are actual games (and not a bed with a mirror or a small decorated room with a mirror) don't attract any visits. Moderation in VRChat is severely lacking: there are PDF rings, suicide clubs, rapists, and people who solicit others to do dangerous things, yet they don't get banned and continue playing without any real punishment - because they know no one will stop them, and that's the truth. Even if they do get banned, they can just make a new account. The game is free, after all.
The devs, on the other hand, are doing everything they can to monetize it as aggressively as possible while refusing to address the obvious problems in the community and the game itself. Too many minors interacting with adults and getting groomed? "We hear you, audience - here's a paywalled age-verification system."
As soon as I stopped logging in, my life improved, and I recommend others do the same.
This review doesn't really matter, because most people playing now will likely keep logging in daily anyway - to talk to their fake friends, solicit minors, drive people over the edge, or… just stare at the mirror. These are the same people who will claim VRChat changed their life, that it's a meaningful social experience, and that there are no real problems ("just ban the guy you don't like, lmao").
It's funny to me how people will drive games into the ground over the smallest mistakes, yet completely close their eyes to projects like this.
