Seeing you still seem to lack time, I quickly made fixes to update the mod for 1.8 and trying to make it work with some Morgenrote buildings, Before I continue with the Morgenrote version, would it be possible to add new content like journal entries and so on?

mod/common/buildings/07_government, the code "unlocking_technologies = {bureaucracy}" should be changed to "unlocking_technologies = {tech_bureaucracy}".

I was about to test this mod, but I read some comments beforehand that sparked my interest. My idea was basically maybe you could make the automata cause radicalization somehow. Some way that makes it so that you either need to combine it with welfare or state oppression to pacify the population, or building factories that only humans can work in. I will simply need to try the mod before forming a strong opinion.

@Greasy/Shadow Dragon Yeah, that's the downside of using them (or at least hopefully will be if it plays out as hoped in a long game).

@adil3tr The art is more, to my mind, expressed as someone making automata in art form (mechanical birds, etc.) although I'm looking at removing the art use in 0.2 as fine art really struggles to compete even with a weight restriction.

@p0xus Awesome! I certainly look forward to seeing the approach that takes.

@christian.nipales I'm not, no. I suppose that they have some magical automata as part of their setting? I seem to recall employing those as the Gnomes in an EU IV game.

@Tanrice I do appreciate the compatibility is not currently wonderful. My 0.2 task list does include sorting out the compatibility as this, as you point out, does override a lot of vanilla.

For example , if you only want to modify part of 00_pop_need.txt, you should not use the same name file, but create a new empty file and only write the entries you want to modify, then name the file whatever but other than 00_pop_need.txt. Then other entries will remain untouched.

Great mod, however, you seem to overwrite too much vanilla data. For example, you don't need to overwrite the all the 07_government.txt, but only add what you want to a text file whatever name you want.
In case of this mod, you can simply write a method group and several method, the only vanilla thing you need to overwrite is \common\buildings, where you should add your method groups to vanilla buildings.
In this way, it is much easier to make a compatible patch for your mod.

Ive been working on an Automaton mod since release. It works a bit different then yours though, and its not ready for a release yet. I just wanted to let you know so you didnt think Im stepping on your toes.

I like the concept! Kinda reminds me of Stellaris, Frostpunk, and the book The Affinity Bridge.

One thing I realized was the fact over time you could end up automating your entire economy, which if possible, you could have a late game crisis entry where due to large scale automata use, it results in a severe loss of work for people.

Kinda like the HOI4 mod Pax Britannica, essentially the automation crisis.

I really like the idea of the mod, but in my experience with victoria 3, you're almost always limited by buildings and resources not labour. So far it seems like the best use of automata is selling them to pops and shipping them off to the colonies to grow more dye. Maybe you could do something where you just accept you have a ton of peasants and automate most labor to supress the trade unions, or playing in the new world with migration controls/racism but that dosen't really feel like what you're going for.
