With that out of the way, I also hope it helps you realize just how much I like Warhammer.

I’m of the opinion that Warhammer fans should not have to settle for mediocrity. Thankfully, Space Marine 2 is not only a great Warhammer game, but also a great game period. There’s some old school fun to be had here. It feels like a game made by gamers, for gamers.

The game made me zone out and enter a flow state while playing, which is very rare for me outside of a select few arcade games. Turns out it’s quite relaxing and therapeutic to mow down hordes of Tyranids.

One thing I really loved apart from the gameplay was the narrative. While this is a continuation of the first game, it doesn’t rely too heavily on you knowing the backstory, although that certainly helps. You don’t need to play the first one to enjoy this game, but you might want to play it after this one as an excuse to play another great game.

I really loved the way the relationship between the party members and the main character was handled. There’s a lot of tension mixed with this almost spartan “let’s just get it done”-attitude and it leads to very sincere feeling, no-nonsense storytelling where words unspoken still carry weight.

I was also very happy about how polished the game feels. I had no bugs, no crashes, no technical issues at all with this game. One thing to note though, is that they’re using their own engine for this, and it’s very CPU reliant. There are very few options to help reduce CPU load. So, keep in mind that if you’re using an older CPU, you can expect some performance issues.

The game is incredible, and it’s very easy to recommend.
