the food restriction sometimes makes animals not able to be trained.

for example, I assign cows 'not provided' restriction, to let them eat the grass. but then I can not train them (for taming loss) because they doesn't eat anything I provided. and for another example, I assign dogs 'Animals' restriction in which I remove the raw food, and then they only eat simple meal as I wish. but I can not train them either, because simple meals seems not to be a food to train them and the raw food is under restriction.

I use the mod 'smart food selection' before, it seems not to change the food selection of training. so do you think it's better to make training out of the food restriction? or another individual food selection for training?

Thanks, I might look into it. In the meantime you can try Animal Controls mod.

Hey, the upload includes the .psd and .xcf files which is making the mod much bigger than it needs to be.

There is a bug with caravans not being able to eat even tho it has a lot of food. Ah, yes, the caravan food calculator does not take into account animal food restriction settings. Thanks for reporting.

Correction: it does. That's kind'a by design.

This caused pen animals to starve in my game. They don't chose food and should probably be excluded. Even though there is a weird case that caused me to install it in the first place, a colonist started to feed a starving hen a packaged survival meal.

Just assign food that allow everything for pen animals.

Yeah, if you want correct food report (and also caravan animals not srarving to death) you need to create special Caravan Animal food policy and assign that to animals before forming the caravan. Which IS a bit annoying.

Animals don't eat plants in a grow zone (mod conflict)

Not sure if this should be posted here but I use the Toggle Harvest mod (https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1499848654) and plant haygrass in animal zones or pens, I disable "harvest" so my pawns don't cut it all down, but leave "sow" enabled so when the animals eat something it gets replanted without micromanagement.

With your mod though, even though "haygrass" is selected in the animal food restriction under plants, animals will not eat it unless "harvest" is enabled.

Hey, the mod is great but unfortunately doesn't work with Better Pawn Control, which is one of the best mod around. Could you make a patch for it?

Thanks for the info. From a quick glance it looks like functionality of this mod is included in Better Pawn Control. So just use Better Pawn Control. I may mark Better Pawn Control as incompatible in the next mod update.

You can try swap this mod with Animal Controls and check it that resolves your issue.
