I will say that Odyssey basically overhauled the terrain naming system, it's more actually tied to features now. I am considering updating this but I looked into it a little and it doesn't seem like I needed to do much because most words are already included

Update:
- Fixed gendered surnames for Empire.
- Added more animal strings and tribal names.

Yes, that was it! It's always annoying when perfectly fine mods get deleted. guess I'll download a local copy from that sketchy website and see if I can do something similar

I assume that it will! if they both edit the same files, you can just have one enabled and paste all of the entries into it

Hey, thanks for making this mod, and the collection as well.

While searching the workshop for more of this kind of mods, I found Better Orbital Trader Names . Would it conflict with this mod?

Haha. I don't usually pay attention to surnames, so I think that, similarly, most players won't notice :)

Only thing for it is to run Character Editor and painstakingly hand-gender every Byzantine name we see...

uh oh, just found out that Byzantine surnames are gendered (makes sense; modern Greek ones are too)
so both the vanilla Imperial surnames and the modded ones I added are gonna be a bit inaccurate. oh well, nothing can be done, gendered surnames aren't supported 🤷🏼‍♀️
Now I can't unlearn this.

Minor update

Added some more strings (more 1.4 compatibility)
Actually uploaded the senator names (I just overwrote the ones in VFE Classical local files before 😅)

Preliminary 1.4 update. As far as base game is concerned, nothing has been changed in 1.4, except syllable sets and nicknames for some xenohumans were added. I'm not adding anything to these currently.

Hmm, you would probably have to change the place name generation. Which part is causing trouble, the random syllables?

Thanks for the great mod! Is there a way to disable the increased word bank for the geographical locations? I love it everywhere else, but it creates place names that don't really sound like place names.

I have added 1.2 compatibility. I have looked at the new language files and found there are no changes that need to be made to this mod at this time. (The only change to non-UI stuff/custom player names was to the outlander town names, which I did not change)

I don't see why not; it doesn't remove any words from the game, so already-generated things shouldn't be affected.

It should be fine, regular colonist names are not affected in any way.

Thanks for adding thematically consistent new names, I'm guessing it should work just fine with Pawn Name Variety . :steamhappy:
