RSV Artemis "Feli" nuclear-powered SAR ship

描述
Introduction
The RSV Artemis “Feli” is my first fully built rescue vessel: An ambitious project designed for reliability, versatility, and long-range emergency response. The ship is powered by a compact nuclear reactor feeding a steam boiler, driving eight steam turbines for smooth and consistent propulsion. This setup ensures long endurance and excellent power output while keeping fuel requirements minimal.

Spread throughout the vessel is an extensive set of equipment built for various rescue scenarios. At the bow, a high-pressure water cannon provides strong firefighting capabilities. Integrated sonar provides excellent underwater awareness, while a powerful radar covers the sky! On the port aft section, a small RHIB is ready to deploy within seconds for fast-response surface operations, capable of reaching 50 knots. On the top deck sits a light rescue helicopter, perfect for long-distance or hard-to-reach situations, boasting a maximum speed of 85 knots.

A large crane dominates the aft deck, designed for cargo lifting, salvage operations, or general support tasks. Alongside it is a powerful towing winch, enabling the Artemis to stabilize or pull other vessels during emergencies. The aft deck integrates the full “Unicon” system by 454SS, providing advanced and/or standart Cargo loading.

Community advice, feedback, and improvements are highly welcome!

Interior Layout & Crew Facilities

Bridge & Operations Center
The bridge is designed with practicality and visibility in mind: a clean, modern layout with unobstructed 360° sightlines. All navigation, radar, sonar, and Unicon interfaces are centrally arranged for ease of use, even during single-person operation.
Built into the rear section of the bridge is a compact but fully functional galley kitchen, allowing the crew to prepare meals without leaving the main operations area, especially convenient during long rescue missions.

Crew Area
Immediately beneath the bridge is the primary crew space, featuring comfortable seating, storage, and a small briefing area. This provides a calm internal environment for planning missions, coordinating rescue efforts, or taking breaks away from the helm.

Medbay
Behind the crew area lies a dedicated medical bay, equipped for stabilizing injured survivors until they can be transported to proper medical facilities. It includes basic monitoring systems, first-aid supplies, and enough room to treat one to three patients.

Crew Quarters
At the front of the ship, the crew quarters offer multiple bunks, personal lockers, and additional storage. It’s compact but efficient, intended to house the recommended 4 crew members, though the ship can comfortably accommodate more. With full automation, the Artemis can also be operated by a single person if necessary.

Aft Equipment Storage
Behind the working areas on the stern are several equipment storage rooms holding tools, diving gear, firefighting equipment, repair kits, and rescue supplies, ensuring the crew has everything they need for rapid-response situations.

Engineering & Safety Systems
The engineering section is protected by a dedicated fire suppression system, automatically triggering in case of overheating or combustion risk. All water-exposed compartments feature automatic bilge pumps, ensuring the vessel stays afloat even if damaged.

Deck Equipment
• Bow Water Cannon for firefighting
• Port-side RHIB (50 knots) for rapid deployment
• Helicopter (85 knots) for long-range SAR
• Stern Crane for cargo handling
• Towing Winch for assisting or recovering damaged vessels

Specifications
• Length: 38 m
• Width: 9.75 m
• Height: 13.75 m (waterline → mast)
• Draught: 3 m
• Top Speed: 32 knots
• RHIB: 50 knots
• Helicopter: 85 knots
• Recommended Crew: 4+ (solo operation possible)

Startup procedure

RSV Artemis
• head to the engineering room
• turn the "System/Backlights" key
• activate automatic bilge pumps and fire suppression system
• activate "Insert Fuel Rods", "Reactor/Boiler Water Pumps", "Preheat Water" and "Automatic Control Rod Insertion" (no specific order required as long as you do it fast enough/within 30 seconds)
• wait for boiler temperature to rise to 100°C and the ship will be "on"

Artemis RHIB
• lower davit
• once on the RHIB, press the "Engine"-button
• press "Release"
• retract the davit by pressing "1" on the RHIB
• RHIB is fully retrievable, requires some skillful driving though

Artemis Helicopter
• turn on "Instruments" and "Engine"
• wait for the engine RPS to reach 12!
• press "release"

Final Notes
The RSV Artemis “Feli” is my first ever ship project. Feedback, suggestions, and improvements from the community would all be greatly appreciated!

@The Nameless if you don't want to faff about with mining and refining, you can always throw money at the problem :P

This ship is true perfection. I actually travelled 25 miles in this boat with another boat on top of it, cuz i was doing a SAR Mission. Love the functions this boat has, and it's really fast for a boat that big. 11/10

No problem, no rushing, not saying that you need to do it, basically throwing ideas at the wall in case they stick :)
Will follow what you will do next anyway, your work is very good

@LynxarA that would be very ambitious considering my beginner-ish skills. I can't promise that I won't do either of your recommendations. I wouldn't deny it though. Thanks

Just an idea, not needed, but it would be cool if you would make a sea exploration version of this ship and military one. Sea exploration: partially glass floor, diving bell crane or submarine in a moon pool on board. Military: turrets, anti-air system, radar-controlled rockets

@The Nameless I sadly don't plan on making the Artemis more accessable regarding uranium mining. Thanks for enjoying her otherwise!

@LynxarA Thanks for enjoying her! I will definitely add either a camera or window pointing downward in the helicopter next week! Thanks for the recommendation!

absolutely love this ship

Ship became my daily driver. Amazing work. The only thing stopping me from operating it first-person all the way is lack of view down in the helicopter to better align with the ship while landing. Camera or windows pointing down would be appreciated
