This map lets you test HUD / UI elements.
If you're smart about it, you can even update the UI without needing to reboot.
Learn how to do so here.

Check the ingame console after spawning into this map.
There's some more useful information for HUD / UI editing.

Contains:
  • Main menu loading screens.
  • All official campaign loadingscreens
  • Main menu gamemode images
  • VS team select images
  • All survivor images
  • SI HUD images
  • Tipgraphic
  • Iconsheets
  • All weapon icons.
  • Buttons to alter state of all teampanels.
  • Buttons to change gamemodes to test their respective UI
  • Buttons to enable various UI elements seen during gameplay.

ye that's a map issue. that shouldn't even be there.
iii deleted my logo and forgot that i had a now invisible brush in the map.
i'll update the map today or tomorrow, so it will be gone then

Not sure if it's just my end (or something to do with Linux), but the L4D2 logo seems to clip underneath the Special Infected's VGUI https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3618915316

be warned, using flyout menus to add a temporary fake overlay will work for the most part. But some things are hardcoded per screen.
Like the loadingscreens spinner icon cannot be moved. But if you give it a different control name you can move it around. Won't animate though. So you need to edit the vmt of it as well. Idk if the transition screens also have hardcoded ui locations.

No. I tried using vgui screen entities, but they don't seem to load any ui res file.
Best other workaround is temporarily adding a fake screen right to the main menu to "replace it".
Did that myself just recently. Try it yourself by adding this to the mainmenu res temporarily.

The other .res file you overlay should have a fake background temporarily, just to avoid showing the main menu backgrounds.
