描述
Storage Balance Patches
it's just like, my opinion, man

This mod contains patches for other storage mods to rebalance their various storage buildings. It is intended to be used with Progression: Storage and Vanilla Furniture Expanded, although those mods are not required.
The changes in this mod are listed here.[docs.google.com]

Update 1.3 - Mod Settings
New mod settings menu with two settings: 'Apply research patches', and 'Use dedicated research projects', which allow the user to choose how the mod handles research projects. Both are on by default.

Next up - Edit in-game descriptions to be accurate, standardized, and provide relevant info on stack sizes and allowed items.

Design philosophy
This mod aims to:
  • Declutter menus by removing duplicate items across mods.
  • Declutter research by removing storage-specific projects, moving buildings to vanilla or vanilla expanded projects.
  • Balance around vanilla items.
  • Balance stack sizes by tech level and specialization of the shelf, rather than resource cost to build it.

Due to compatibility concerns, all changes to research projects are contained in "1.6/Research Patches/", which can be deleted to revert them.

General guidelines for stacks per cell are:
Tech Level
General Use
Specific Use
Neolithic
2-3
4-6
Medieval
3-4
6-8
Industrial
4-6
8-10 or extra features
Spacer
10+
20+ or extra features

Buildings that are larger or have more restrictive allowed items will tend towards the higher end of the range.
Buildings that are smaller, allow more items, or give extra bonuses will tend towards the lower end.

"Extra features" includes refrigeration, production bonuses, etc.

Compatibility
Currently covering these storage mods:
  • Adaptive Primitive Storage - Decreases stack sizes significantly. Reduces some material costs.
  • Adaptive Storage Neolithic Module - Reduces some material costs. Removes wood pile if Adaptive Primitive is installed.
  • Reel's Expanded Storage - Decreases stack sizes. Removes some items if Adaptive Primitive is installed. Removes research projects. Moves buildings to vanilla projects, or Vanilla Furniture Expanded projects if VFE is installed. Also covers the buildings from VFE - Props and VFE - Art if they are installed.
  • Phaneron's Basic Storage - Rebalances stack sizes, mostly small tweaks. Removes crates, barrel, meat hook, and weapon rack if Reel's is installed. Removes research projects. Moves buildings to vanilla projects, or VFE projects if VFE is installed.
  • [sbz] Neat Storage - Small rebalance tweaks to crates. Disables crates/weapon racks if Reel's is installed, crates/pallets/weapon racks if Phaneron's is installed.
  • [sbz] Fridge - Rebalance costs and power draw. Removes freezers from other mods.
  • Warehouse Storage - If any other big storage mods are loaded (Reel's, Phaneron's, Neat, Adaptive Deep, Adaptive Simple) cardboard boxes and medicine racks are removed. Storage shelves have chunks/corpses disallowed, and stack sizes increased.
  • Adaptive Ideology Storage - Every single item had to be renamed and rebalanced.

Research projects are removed, and items are instead assigned to projects from:
Core VFE is highly recommended. Buildings are balanced around the assumption that it is installed.

Made with compatibility in mind for these other mods:

Usage, permissions, etc

Can this get support for "LWM's Adaptive Deep Storage"?

Progression: Aesthetics removes ResearchProjectDef MF_BasicFurniture inside it's MO patch file

Thanks for the report, I'll look into it. It's just failing to find a mod that it looks like you don't have, as long as you aren't running into issues launching your savegame should be fine.

Ah okay, that's my bad I didn't see the updated description. Changing the setting put it back to how it was before, no issues. Thanks.

@catharsis
This update did change how research projects are handled. It is now a mod setting. I made the default setting keep research projects from storage mods to reduce the impact of my mod on new users, but you can turn it off in the mod configs menu.

--> This update should be non-destructive on saves. <--

I'm sorry if it interrupted your playthrough at all, but there is no way to keep Steam workshop from auto-updating. Simply changing the "use dedicated research projects" setting should get you back to the previous behavior with no issue.

In the future, if you want to avoid possibly breaking changes, I would suggest everybody copy the mods they want to use into the game's local mods folder (steamapps/RimWorld/Mods/) and then only update them manually when they start a new save. Or continue to beta test every mod, just know that any mod author could break your save at any time.

It appears that the portion of the mod handling research projects has broke. I loaded up my save earlier and now all the research projects from Reel's are back (where as before those were gone and the items were apart of other research projects). This wasn't the case just yesterday evening, and I didn't change my mod list at all. I can see that you updated the mod today, maybe that has something to do with it?

@LordBeef21
I'd be happy to talk it over. Sent you a friend request so we can PM.

Hey Nutritious Cookie, I'm planning an overhaul to my Progression: Storage Lite mod. Would you like to join forces on that? I think we have a lot of the same goals.

@catharsis
Reel's large metal crate was supposed to be only 50 steel, looks like that got lost. I agree Reel's double shelf is very expensive, that's an oversight. I'm trying to err on the side of cheap build costs to give more meaning to the tech level.

Funny you make that particular critique about shelves/crates, I actually agree. The update I pushed just a few hours before your comment reworked crates to only accept bulk storage for raw materials, primarily to differentiate them from shelves. I haven't touched hp at all, only Cost /Research / Stacks / Allowed Items. Once I get through my current focus (adding an options menu) I may take a look at other stats as well.

Don't worry about sharing your thoughts. I would hope I have the emotional maturity to handle someone pointing out flaws or disagreeing with me :P
