after the wonky release of outcast 1.1 on steam which initially I gave a thumbs down until they fixed it.

I'm positively suprised by this release, I expected less as a fan boy. yes things have changed, most importantly the way cutter moves. no more sneaking past guards in the riss fields :'( , But for some reason the patrols aren't there either.

So most people say that nothing much has changed, If you are a truly fanboy you will see the slight differences. even most conversations had a overhaul. Less cringe, still some cheesyness but not too much. ( thank Fcuk for the removal of the "I had sex in the back of my car conversation" ) some mistakes are still there, like the shamaz in shamazaar said kill instead of revert. ( even the subtitles said revert ) but that is something minor.

I disagree with the rolls while sprinting, that is something that they can fix. you want to steer back a bit with the a and d controls but while sprinting you will dodge all of the sudden to the sides.

people say the graphics are dated, I dissagree, I think this mostly comes with the fact that the ui is really basic, also some options to remove the stupid names and smileys with every npc would be nice. that it comes up somewhere in a conversation it okay, but I don't like seeing it everywhere. to me graphically it's really astonishing and aesteticly pleasing.

just watch a shamaz healing you and see how beautiful the effects really are.

there are some other cons. like no customization of the ui, no options for graphics, no options for sound.

after watching the promotional videos I thought the lip-sync would be worse. It works quite well in most cases. sometimes it's quite jarring.


this release looks to me they had resource problems and time constraints, if you gave these guys a few more years it would have been perfect I guess.

all in all I'm having a blast. ( I only payed 20 for it with the extra discount of owning 1.1 ) and I surely recommend it for that price !
