Is it possible to assign different bones to seperate parts of a hat? And if so, how?
Hi, I'm trying to make a hat for pyro that has a part on the shoulders and a part on the head. They are connected. Is there a way to assign it to different bones so that when its in game it'll move with the character?
Thanks

Yes it's possible. Just assign individual vertices to different bones. You can also use weight paint mode.

Thanks, but how many vertices should I assign per bone? I've tried to assign sections and it seems like nothing has changed.

You can assign however many vertices you want per bone.

The basic process is this:
Parent your model to the entire bone rig > go to the Object Data tab > navigate to the Vertex Groups subheading to find a list of bones within that rig > in edit mode, select the vertices you want to be applied to a certain bone > select the bone from that list and hit "Assign" (the weight = 1.000 means those vertices will only be applied to that bone). You can have different weights (i.e. 50/50 means 50% of the movement will come from 1 bone and 50% from another bone).

Weight paint mode more easily allows you to modify what vertices are applied to which bones. I would do a quick google search on how to use weight paint mode. It's definitely worth learning.
