Updates and known issues
Versions: 2.1.0 (10.12.2025)
• Some balance changes.
• The civil war bug has finally been fixed. Previously, when choosing focus branches that trigger a civil war, the rebel side’s focus tree did not reset, which caused the AI to get “stuck” in the political branch because it ended up with the wrong ideology. Now everything works as intended, and because of this, civil wars have been made more challenging - both sides will now have almost equal strength, making the outcome far less predictable.
• A bug affecting countries with only a single state (such as Liberia) has also been fixed. If a country controls only one state, it will now change ideology without triggering a civil war.

In update 2.0, I’ve brought a lot of changes and improvements to this mod!

• The political branches were expanded with additional focuses and choices, making gameplay more interesting and functional.
• The industrial branch was completely reworked and now offers far more development paths.
• A separate focus tree for puppets was added, with both military and diplomatic ways to gain independence!
• A full rebalance of all focus bonuses. I literally redistributed and balanced every number from scratch. Now each ideology has clearer strengths:
Communism - strongest army attack bonuses and foreign influence tools.
Monarchism - strongest suppression and occupation bonuses, heavy emphasis on special forces, and the best defensive buffs.
Fascism - the largest amount of available manpower.
Democracy - the best construction and research bonuses.
• Military focuses were slightly expanded.
• The “Neutrality” branch was completely removed due to being unnecessary. Parts of it were integrated into a sub-branch called “Internationalism.”
• The mod’s “Settings” were updated. Several new functions were added, and descriptions were heavily rewritten to better explain what each option does.
• AI behavior was improved.
• A lot of internal code was completely reworked. You won’t notice this during gameplay, but it took a good amount of time.
• And many other small changes and improvements.

This version of the mod underwent massive updates, so minor issues I might have missed are still possible.

Versions: 1.0.0 - 1.3.3 (31.10.2025 - 23.11.2025)
• Added Korean localization.
• Added a new tab in the settings where you can configure the AI. For now, you can remove the AI’s restrictions on choosing political paths.
• Added a new feature in the mod settings - you can now remove special mechanics present in some countries, such as “Paranoia” or “Balance of Power.”
• Made changes to improve the mod’s compatibility with others. You should now encounter fewer issues when using GFT: Redux alongside other small or global mods.
• Fixed several bugs.
• Added support for historical mode. Now, if historical mode is enabled, the AI will no longer form alliances or start civil and regular wars.
• Added the ability to set focus trees.
• Changes to the ability to remove national spirits.
• Added the ability to remove territorial modifiers.
• Added localizations: GER/DEU, POR, POL, JPN, CHI/ZHO (simplified).
• Added UKR localization (as a separate mod).

Problematic alliance names.
At the moment, random alliance names aren’t very “random.” This is hardly my fault, but rather a limitation of the game and its code. Unfortunately, I can’t technically implement this mechanic properly, so in your game, it’s possible for two alliances to end up with the same name.

Possible issues with gaining independence

In update 2.0, I added a separate branch for puppet nations. Independence is handled through events, but this game doesn’t really like the "observe" command.
If you used it, make sure to save your game and reload the save - otherwise the required events simply won’t trigger after you take the focuses for gaining independence.
