Dealing with a Imperial Carrier Stacks
So I just encountered a stack of Vader, 2 ISD Typ I, One Victory Class SD and 8 (eight!) Ton Falk Advanced Carriers, as well 3 additional regular Ton Falk Carriers. I'm not quite sure how to deal with that stack. I thought about attacking other planets in the Core and Mid Rim in order for the Imps to split up the fleet. Any other ideas? Love the mod and enjoy the challenge

Rookie numbers, I've seen stacks of 24 total XD (and 51 ATR-6's as well)

I've found forcing the AI into attacking a fortified position helps immensely, like Mandalore, Sluis Van, or Muunilinst. Ion Cannon (or other ground weapon if BS) to pin the larger ships, various stations to either tank or provide dedicated fire support (depending on fleet composition)

Don't bother separating out the bombers, as you'll need every fighter you can get to handle the Imperial fighter swarms you'll be dealing with. And ensure the fighter engagement happens on top of/next to your fleet, so you have the advantage of the fleets lighter weaponry.

Sounds logical enough. I found stations like Golans and XQs a bit underwhelming, but I guess they are meant to tank rounds for the fleet rather then to deal with attacks on their own

Thank you very much, will try

I find that the key is to focus the carriers themselves first. Ton Falks have very deep reserves, so fighting the fighters will just make them deploy more fighters until you run out of fighters. Rebels have better fighters, but the Empire will have deeper reserves. Good ways to target the carriers are with corvettes. Headhunters, CR-90s, and DP-20s will take down Ton-Falks very fast if you have a few of those corvettes in a group. And the maneuverability of those corvettes means you will usually be able to get them into striking distance of the carriers quickly.

Of course, if the carriers have any bomber wings, those will be a threat to the corvettes and you will need to respond accordingly. Use your fighters to screen the bombers. If the carriers only have fighter squadrons, then you can just jump your corvettes on the carriers right away.

Once the carriers themselves are taken care of, the remaining fighters won't be that big of a problem since your fighters will be better and the corvettes that destroyed the carriers will also have some anti-fighter weaponry for support.

Bulk Cruisers can also perform well in these battles if positioned and protected well, but they are slow and vulnerable to heavier imperial cruisers and capitals.

Fighter/bomber fleet led by Rogue Squadron would wreck this formation. 2:1:1 X-Wings/A-Wings/bombers, some supporting Braha'Tok gunships and U-Wings to provide flak debuff/supply buff, and a few Rogue Squadron strikes while in the furball will see that fighter threat neutralized pretty quickly.

Just make sure to kite the fighter swarms away from the carriers as much as possible, the flak from the Ton Falks can cause you some headaches. A-Wings make for great kiting rabbits ;)

Alternatively you can just nix the A-Wings and go 1:1 X-Wing/bomber ratio. With this you can alpha-strike the carriers with your bombers while everything else furballs it up with the fighter swarm.

Brahatok gunships. So, so many brahatok gunships.

Nebulon-Bs and Neutron Star Cruisers are also really helpful. Mix in some bombers and an ion cannon and boom boom.

Thank you all for the help! I didi create a Fighter and Carrier heavy Task Force. Nebulon-Bs, CR90s , many A-WIngs and X-Wings, as well as Rogue Squadron and Neutron Star Cruisers. I took heavy losses, but more to my bad micro in the battle...I guess if you are new to the mod, the key is to not be intimidated by the fleets that pop up mid-game and create forces to counter what the enemy throws at you, rather then try to fight them with a "one-size-fits-all" fleet.
