I loved your 1st helicopter (and I still have it), but this new one is really amazing! can't imagine the time you took to build it... Great work, thanks!

I got the old one too because I love them so much

I love it, this is amazing

To be honnest I liked the fuselage of the older helicopter better than this one. This newer is too blocky and wide and has a odd looking airframe, but otherwise it's much better functionally. :steamsalty:

Oh that's so cool! I had to learn how a swashplate works for my first heli. The hardest part was making it move in any direction while staying compact. I didn't know about dissymmetry of lift back then, but I did more research on it this time. My little wing panel sorta/kinda simulates the way a real heli works, by reducing the advancing blade's angle of attack. Spinning the rotor faster also helps reduce the dissymmetry.

I see. That makes sense.

I first learned how to build helicopters by reverse engineering your realistic helicopter. A year ago I didn't even know what a swashplate was.

Have you checked out how real life helicopters compensate for dissymmetry of lift?

I originally used wings on the fuselage, but the rotor tilted heavily to the right as it flew forward.I didn't like the way that looked so I had to come up with something different.

Aaand I just realized you're that helicopter guy lol. Yeah I've seen you on r/Besiege and you made that excellent tutorial. I've subbed your Huey and Chinook for a while now! Some of the best heli's on the Workshop.

Ah I see it. Well thought. However, it is also possible to remove dissymmetry of lift by adding wing panels on the sides of the fuselage to compensate for the roll. I usually avoid doing that unless absolutely necessary. Have you checked out my helicopters?

@Big Mathis, I'm a little bit proud of that part and happy someone noticed :D

Under the front cyclic piston I attached a tiny wing panel and angled it so that as you fly forward, wind resistance pushes that piston backward. As the piston is pushed back, it automatiacally trims the cyclic and applies a bit of left roll. The panel also limits how fast the heli can fly, which helps keep things stable.

I'm surprised that it doesn't suffer from dissymmetry of lift. Do you have any idea why?
Nothing. I just used the decoupler block because it's strong and doesn't flex.

what does j do?

Absolutly fantastic, really easy to fly and control:steamhappy:
PowerConverter  [作者] 2017 年 4 月 18 日 上午 9:03
Lol thanks :steamhappy:
Most of the work went into making fly well
Let's be honest, this thing's way too easy to fly.

This is cool!
Ok, I've spent the evening tweaking a bunch of stuff and now it flies better than ever!
too wobbly yet too genius.
Big Mathis 2017
It's cool to see a realistic helicopter. But it needs a horizontal and a vertical stabilizer. I bet it's gonna fly much better after that.
