can you make a mod to remove the charge distance limit. i.e if i spread a unit wide, and charge them into a tight phalanx, the wide unit should "wrap" around the phalanx block, are you able/aware of a mod/how to make a mod for this?

Compatability wise; no actual units are edited, only units classes (battle entities) ie, Very Heavy, Medium, Very Light etc etc. It should work with other mods as I'm sure 99% of unit mods still use the vanilla unit entities as well as Overhaul mods.

From the video, it looks like what this mod does is to make unit charge "through" your own other units from the back when they're already engaging the enemy as if they're transparent

@Judgej: Historians' interpretations shift e.g., Van Wees' challenge to Hanson on hoplite warfare not being about shield pushing but more individual combat. This can translate to Roman formations. Sources can oversimplify battlefield order. Roman formations weren't always perfect; for instance when charging the line wasn't perfectly aligned. Legion discipline varied; sources often highlight discipline when rigid. However, excessive rigidity isn't always advantageous (flanking, space limits). Romans also used loose formations intentionally.

This is mod should be named "hollywood charge impacts". If you ask historians the brickwall is way more realistic.

Is it possible to make Rome 2 charges the same as how this mod makes them? It seems like CA made virtually no changes to their game engine with Attila. I would love to seem my cataphracts decimate the roman legions in the ancient world.

Rome 2 has the problem where if 3 or so enemy units collide with just a few cavalrymen then the whole unit just halts their charge, and engages the 3 individual soldiers. It's the most stupid thing I've ever seen. But with this mod in Attila, charges behave the way they should.

Can you add broken horse legs and casualties from charging units head on? Cav charged with lances, not horses, I've always wanted to see the disaster of horses snapping their legs on spears, tumbling and taking down other horses in their unit in Total War.

Updated.

From what I can see, Realistic Battle Mod edits the same table as this. You would need to place this at a higher load order for it to work with it. It only edits a small amount of values so it wont impact the mod too much.

I had a Medium shock cavalry in a vedge formation smash directly into a standing unit of medium melee cavalry and sure my cavalry did get somewhat deep in there, but there was absolutely no weight to the units. I don't know if it's the mod not working, or if it's the actual limitations of the Atilla engine the units can't have weight, or whatever.... this was with the XAI improvement mod btw

great mod. terrifying when you have a small force of spear + swordsmen defending your general then the barbarians charge and break through the first line. very realistic

@Omaha The charges in the older games were good, units would even push the whole enemy line back if they had shields

super random question since you are a decent modder, Are you able make the soldiers to fight more chaotic and without restraint, not caring much about holding the line and formations? Loose formations that dont reform? Likes ur mod!

I love the mod, it's so cool! So much better than vanilla charge. But i have one request, is it possible to make another mod with the same charge but the units collide harder and the first line end up fighting the backline and increase the unit spread out? Otherwise it's cool, thanks for the mod :D
