LOVE your mod. stunning and immersive as hell. BUT my adhd brain has noticed one thing on close ups. Desert archers and i think regular segutarii has the recurve bows when idle or running but as soon as they start shooting they switch magically to the normal bows. Not a big deal but thought you wanna know. But best reskin mod by miles and miles

@apostolis1982 They wear scabbards because they share the same armor model. However, it’s not inconsistent soldiers of this period often owned several sets of equipment depending on the situation.

As for your issue, it most likely comes from the fact that those mods modify database files that I also edit. Unfortunately, there’s no fix I can provide on my end, sorry about that.

nah sorry my bad i tried to 2x the num mounts in you unit table to match my unit size and accidentally gave mounts to some peasant hurlers

@dodobird you would have to go in RFPM yourself and make edits to the unit sizes in the main unit and land unit (remember horses and amount of men must match up or you get double/invisible riders) which I have done for this mod but its personal use, you just gotta make your own changes to custom units or completely overhauled in some way units as a vanilla unit size editor would have changed them, I might release it but I am very busy with work and a few other mods right now so we'll see.

@dodobird I don’t think I’ve touched the unit sizes, but since the data is modified to make the best possible reskin, it’s possible that the issue comes from there.

For some reason, if using a 2x unit size mod, all cavalry units remain the same size while everything else increases. Any idea why?

@Dovahkin Sorry, but this mod does indeed affect the DB, that’s the price to pay for me to fix many issues with officers and mounts. If you want a bug-free version, the best option is to go with Authentic Vanilla Reskin.

As for compatibility, it should normally be complete (so yes it is sufficient). However, this mod makes Authentic Vanilla Reskin graphically obsolete, its only drawback compared to the other being that it isn’t finished yet!

I have encountered a big flaw in this mod which interferes land_unit tables, therefore I am unable to add mods for units! This is purely graphical mod, please fix this mate, I will give hugs !

Additionally, one more question mate ! Should we use both authentic reskin and even more authentic reskin mods together? Or this version should be suifficient, init?

Concerning mail hooded hauberks
So there are several sources supporting this choice, and they all trace back to Dura Europos.
More broadly, I was looking for ways to visually distinguish the heavy units of the Eastern and Western Roman Empires without relying on helmets that look too Sassanid.

Great mod! I love the unit diversity shown in the ERE! All the pretty colors. You made the shoddy vanilla clothing look great! My only nitpick is some of the ERE's Eastern Auxilia Palatina have mail hooded hauberks like the early middle ages instead of helments to show a bit more uniformity (Unsure if that's a tad bit too early to see it). regardless from my nitpick this is a beautiful mod. Can't wait to see what you do in the future!

Awesome and Best graphic mod but Could you please add 2D pics for family and politics page too. So they would look equal, because 2D are still vanilla !

For information, I used RPFM and deleted the entries inside the pack file in "variantmeshdefinitions", which correspond to units with problematic LODs. Now, by placing another reskin lower in the queue, it will replace these remaining units.

Regarding the Germanic shields, I specifically used ancient Germanic symbols and patterns, so I find it hard to see what feels “eastern” in their design. Some Gothic factions can indeed give off a slightly Slavic feel, but that also makes sense since one of their possible origins is around the Black Sea. I’ve already put quite a bit of work into the shields, so I’ll probably keep them as they are for now. but I really appreciate your feedback and the perspective you shared.

Hi FireAndRun, I like the feel of this mod a lot, thanks for your work. My only remark would be that many Germanic shield patterns feel kinda Slavic or Eastern. Perhaps they shall be more different from each other. But the general look of battles is great, they have gorgeous but still organic feel now. And a question, shall I use this mod together with your other mod " Authentic Vanilla Reskin" ?

It is not possible to use it yet. At least all of the Franks' ranged units have problems in LOD and become invisible, except for the skirmishers.
