@Aizria: I'm not familiar with Project Ancient Cosmos, so I couldn't give an honest answer. However, if it's been designed to work with TrueSpace, like Arcana and Frackin' Universe, then chances are that it should also work fine with TrueSpace Expanded - Stars.
Is there a patch that just adds the Arcana stars to the spawn pool? I don't care if they're not common, as long as I can find at least one relatively consistently.
Fortunately, my mod, TrueSpace Expanded - Stars, does make use of the irradiated planet and satellite spawns. Unfortunately, said planets were made to spawn only in Neutron Star systems, which should appear on your star map as tiny light blue specs of light (and even then, irradiated planets aren't 100% guaranteed to spawn, since planets would've been rare in such systems due to the Neutron Star's explosive past).
(Furthermore, if you were also running the Somewhat Realistic Star Distribution for RealSpace and TrueSpace mod, then the frequency of Neutron Stars was reduced to being roughly 1 in 2000 main sequence stars, not counting the Brown Dwarfs, which I've estimated to be around 6 times more common than main sequence stars.)
As it turns out, for some reason, it seems as if the Arcana mod devs had opted to put the superstorm planets (along with the automated and neon sea planets) under ONLY the irradiated planets and satellites pools, which TrueSpace has provided... but, unfortunately, for some reason, had never bothered to make use of said irradiated planets or satellites.
What am I missing?
If you're still having trouble finding one, then perhaps installing a mod that increases star density, like the IT'S FULL OF STARS! series of mods, should help. After all, black holes are pretty uncommon in the galaxy. (There's 1000-4000 stars for every black hole.)
Of course, other modders might see fit to change things around to suit their own mods better.
If you're curious to learn a bit more about stars, I'd recommend watching AstroCat's Stars Timeline Series on YouTube for starters.
However, if it's compatable with TrueSpace, then I'm cautiously optimistic that it'd be compatable with my mod.
For ships, it should be, since this mod doesn't touch those.
For planets and floating dungeons, it also should be, provided that they're already compatable with TrueSpace and RealSpace. (In the worst case, they should show up at Class L, M, K, G, F, A, and B stars, which were all added with TrueSpace, which this mod builds upon.)
For stars and tiers, I doubt it, unless patches were made specifically for them (and by extension, TrueSpace).
- Class O and Class WR stars appear as large white and bluish stars, and although exceedingly rare, they're more likely to be found close to Class A and Class B stars, along with Red Giants (all of which are more abundant within stellar nurseries). If you can find any Class A or B stars, or Red Giants, then chances are that Class O and Class WR stars are close.
- Finally, Black Dwarfs are most likely found in the middle of black starless voids in space, but even then, are still rare .
This is all assuming you aren't playing with the Somewhat Realistic Star Distribution for RealSpace and TrueSpace. If playing with that mod, the stars would be more evenly dispersed, but finding them should still be easier with these hints.
- White dwarfs appear like little white specs. They most likely appear smaller than Class A (white) stars.
- Red giants appear like large red stars. They stand out compared to nearby Class A (white) and Class B (blue) stars.
- Neutron stars appear like little bluish specs. Like White Dwarfs, their small size helps them stand out from Class B (blue) stars.
- Black holes appear as dark stars. They stand out more when close to nebulae, or to nearby stars.
