He found it stifling.
While there have been technical developments on this branch, like retrievable spent magazine tech, we're still about a year away from making new content as the team reverse engineers what we need to make new bosses and enemies on top of learning the software for making/mapping levels. Oh there's also some new sprites as well.
You should just do that. Finish whatever they've gotten to so far. And then come back and use this one to play normal Starbound with all your regular mods instead of bothering with all their reversion packages.
This is a branch from version 2.8
They're currently in 4.1.1
But some people say that it does, given how different the new content is now and how much they tried to bury all this old stuff that we've kept and maintained.
Some say even more so than the other version.
But you should get into the healthy habit of purging your universe folder regardless.
Just delete everything in there except for your universe.dat (which keeps your teleporter bookmarks and outpost/progression markers) and the world files of any planets where you've built stuff that you want to still use (they'll have noticeably larger file sizes, among other indicators)
Again, if you need more guidance, talk to me in the linked Discord.
But if you've played GiC in the past, and you don't want that past experience pissed on and thrown into the trash-
-you should play this version. And maybe go check out whatever new stuff they've pumped out on the side, eventually.
They will say this old content that they tried to destroy was stolen.
I have secured necessary documentation in a legal manner to continue my work as an author on the project and continued insinuations of legal action from their side will ultimately work against them in a court of law if escalation continues.
Neither side has anything nice to say about the other.
You can learn more details inside respective factions' Discords.
This version, 2.8+ is now a separate and independently maintained branch that is now developing its own content.
It contains a lot of old content that previous GiC users remember and enjoy which was needlessly removed from the 3.2.5 version for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reasons like "the writing is bad" and "it has consistency issues" which are thin veils thrown over the facts to placate new users who don't know better.
After having completed a balance pass and spot-check, I can tell you with certainty that it doesn't have these problems.
The truth that they don't want to say is that they have no idea how any of the content worked in terms of world-building and narrative elements because they removed their writer (me) and now want an excuse to start "fresh" with whatever hostage player-base they have or that enjoys their version.
You just didn't press the button to pass the bot check.
You can't play both versions of GiC at the same time.
This version contains and is built off content that the other guy tried to remove after he betrayed all the developers he could when he sucked the project up his ass to monetize it.
Naturally we don't have anything nice to say about each other.
I've started working on this branch again though, so it's not dead.
-do a clean save, yeah. Wipe characters and universe.
Then you'll find this mod has a lot of the content you've enjoyed in the past whereas the other version has most of that content removed and is apparently trying to cook up new and different content.
If you were to replace things and to try to keep going with what you have after having not-played in a while, you'll want to use this version instead of the new one which will probably brick your stuff or give you problems since it tried to remove content that you're probably still using.
But I’m asking is what’s the difference between this GIC mod (v2.8+, supposedly a reupload) and the “original” mod of GIC?
Is it okay to replace the “original” mod of GIC with your GIC mod during mid-save game or must be a new save game for a safety precaution?
I hope you guys feeling well, thank you. :)
go to the Warton world and just can't beam down
log said
"Error generating dungeon named 'gic_urbanbattle'"
"No such vehicle named 'gic_dshk_gunturret2_prefab'"
but teleport tool call the dungen "warton_flakturm"
no idea why
only use reskin and SIP addon
You should see comments/do research on SIP patching.
Or just get a mod that shows you an item's ID.
接下来的更新,这些会是重点
Magazines are no longer consumables, we can recycle empty magazines and refill them with bullets
These will be the focus of the next update

To be honest, can I subscribe to two GICs at the same time? Will there be any BUG?
For example, world generation
I've never used it so you'll have to do your own research.
But I hear people can use OpenStarbound to automate what I was talking about now.
The core SIP tools come with their own item-ID-scanning script for other mods.
It does what you ask for you.
And once you have it, you are free to post a GiCv2.8 SIP patch as your own and distribute it on the workshop.
Go for it.
would be cool if you posted an item id list since I
keep up the good work!
It's just that I won't be able to do that for another few months until after my editing-work season is complete.
My more immediate concern is picking up the pieces of my life after Hurricane Helene destroyed most of my neighborhood but left my house and car suspiciously untouched.
I would just shut up and keep my head down-
-but the extra part-time job I picked up to work right now isn't exactly possible considering the store is literally underwater...
-yes, the other version is now much more heavy on the Touhou whereas when I was working on the project, I tried to dilute it and mix in more, different influences.
I never said my writing was good.
I only tried to make the pieces work together with the parts I was given from other developers.
But you can see that, yes, it's more than just the writing:
The themes and aesthetics and more created an overall feel.
And this GiCv2.8 is a rollback to that.
