Just found this mod and I am on a newer Mac laptop. Is it still "unusable" on Macs?

This mod adds support for up to 1700 drivers, but the original game only has somewhere around 300-400 (I forget). If you go to a recruitment agency with this mod turned on it will randomly select drivers from the list so that is why you are seeing IDs going up to the thousands.

If you only want to hire driver IDs that are in the game, make sure you go to the recruitment agency with this mod turned off and then turn it back on later to see their IDs. When you revisit the agency with this mod turned off it will reload the available drivers.

Love the mod! I did notice something odd (likely unique to game, not this mod). Has anyone noticed that the number of drivers available don't necessarily match their "ID" - For example, I might have 354 drivers, but a few have an ID in the thousands. The game also doesn't assign an image to those drivers and I haven't had any luck customizing images using this or any other mods.

@12Monkeys - Probably setting the regional setting to “en_us” is what got it to work because there are other folders for localization. This is probably something that I can fix in the future. Thanks for bringing this up!

For those who who can't get this mod to run:
I had the problem that all mods modifying driver_names.sii didn't work. Then accidentially I get it to work with the following two actions:

1. Try to set everything ingame to US settings (lbs, mph, 12h time, etc), so that ingame regional settings are are "en_us". You can check that in the game log file (C:\Users\<your name>\Documents\American Truck Simulator\game.log.txt). Scan the file for "/locale/en_us/". If you found this somewhere, everthing is fine.

2. if number one doesn't work, then try to launch ATS with "-force_mods" parameter from Steam. (Google for "ats force_mods" on how to do this). You don't even need to load your save, just start ATS with "-force_mods" once, quit ATS again, remove "-force_mods" and start ATS normally.

Sounds weird, but after that everything worked for me. Don't know if you need to do both or just one of the actions.

One of the joys of PC gaming...hardware and software comes into play and causes all sorts of problems that are difficult to diagnose and fix for all users.

No worries. My apologies if that came across as a complaint; more of an observation. The path to the .sii files is similar on Macs but I couldn't get the names or the photos to change. Unfortunately, that's the tradeoff with using a Mac: a lot of things that work on a PC do not transition to Mac OS very well. I'm just happy I can play the game on my Mac. :)

Doesn't work on a Mac. I found the correct driver_names.sii file and made the appropriate changes but the names would never update in the game.

That is where I put the mod. On the very top. I tried it on 5 different profiles with various mods and it still didn't work.

@jjjjgr - I just tested this again. It seems to be working. Yes I am. I took it as part of testing. It still didn't work. Don't get me wrong I would like this mod to work.

Are you using any other mods that change driver's names? If so, this mod needs to be higher on the priority list than those mods.

Sorry but it doesn't work. I followed the instruction but it doesn't change the current names to id numbers.

Thanks @cach, I'll confirm the default number of drivers and delete the remaining numbers.

I just confirmed what I posted below.

Disable this mod to force the Recruitment Agency to reload drivers so that only the default drivers appear. After that you can activate this mod again. The highest driver ID I currently see is 351.

You could also remove the lines that refer to drivers 400-1700 to remedy this issue completely. I'm sorry, but I don't know the exact number of default drivers right now. It's at least 351, though.

This mod does not modify the default driver images, but I have noticed that if this mod is active when you discover new Recruitment Agencies or when you hire a driver and a new one is selected to be available for hire, it will sometimes load an ID higher than 300 which does not have a default image so this may be what you are referring to.

There are only about 340 or so drivers in the game by default. This mod allows for up to 1700 drivers therefore drivers 400-1700 will not have images unless you add them or are using the woman drivers mod.

I believe you can get the Recruitment Agency to refresh to just default drivers if you disable this mod and load the game. After that you can turn the mod back on.

Should the default images be blank if I haven't changed anything?
