@Mlie Oh, my bad. It's from 'Better workbench management' mod (https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=935982361) . I've played so long with it, that was sure it's the vanilla thing.

I guess it tracks the task result type or something like that, but from it's point of view butcher task always produces meat, so 'until X' tracks good meat for bad meat tasks. My guess was we could have a separate butcher task for that. But, well, if that's not vanilla thing then compatibility patch might be a lot of headache.

@Kitich I dont think its possible to have until x for special resulting things like the butcher task. At least I do not know of a way.

IDK how I found this only in 2025. Finally 'kibble meat' will not block meals producing anymore. Thank you, Mlie, for many years of supporting this game!

Also for future, just in case if you get some spare time, it would be cool to have kind of separate butchery task for 'bad meat' to produce 'until X'. Or is there a way I missed?

Thank you so much for this. I was ready to stop playing because my colonists would stop butchering food after infestations because we had 1200 "meat" in the freezer.

Thanks for this mod. The Anomaly dlc added Twisted Meat which gives a -10 from eating a meal made from it.

I was about to go post on the Rotfish race asking if they could make "Rotten meat" actually show up as "Rotten" in the game when I saw this.

Bless you for this. I had almost an entire late game colony puking like a cruise ship infected with norovirus and then I spotted the culprit; almost every meal contained "Rotten meat". Then a short circuit hit, the freezer when out and all the fecking 'Rotten meat' spoiled and created a toxic cloud that infected tons of people with lung rot.

Be sure to forbid it from any sort of pet/animal feeder as well.

The toxic meat added by VAE - Waste Animals has a description which, to me, suggests that it should be bad meat. It's not being sorted automatically.

Actually, I saw that there was a git repo, so I sent a PR. If you don't want to add Synthmeat, that's completely understandable, but if you leave the GetExtraThingDefs method that would let me/others easily add compatibility on our side.

@Mlie any way you could add Replimat's Synthmeat to the list of "bad meats"? Otherwise... could you possibly move the list that contains "Meat_Chaocow" & "MeatRotten" to a method that returns a List<string> so that I could write a harmony patch to add to the list? I could transpile it but I *reeeeeeeeeally* don't want to if it's not hard for you to change

@uberjew1 I understood what you meant, but my point was that this mod just adds a category. Changing what counts for a recipe is well beyond this mod and is better solved with the mentioned mod.

Sorry if i wasn't clear ill try to explain it better. in the butcher table there is no separation between human and animal meat. i use animal meat for pawn meals and human meat for kibble. when you set the butcher table to "do until 1000", it doesn't differentiate the 2 meats so can have 1 animal meat and 999 human meat. Witch means no normal non cannibal meals will be made due to insufficient meat or vice-versa no kibble because 10 human meat and 990 animal. I will checkout the mod you suggested. just thought it was a bug or oversight.

Mlie, if it's not too difficult, please consider adding an Option for this Mod that allows you to decide whether or not Insect Meat (and Mod derivatives of the same) count as "Bad". I use this Mod to change a few Human Meat Recipes to accept all sapient meat, and it's annoying to have to turn off all of the Insect Meat stuff every time.

@uberjew1 Not sure I understand the issue. This just sorts bad meats in its own sub-category under the meat-category so it can easily be excluded when adding cooking recipes for example.
If you want to define what should be counted for fulfilling recipes you should just use the Better Workbench Management-mod

I don't know if this mod is still updated but the butcher table doesn't see the different meats counts human and animal together.
Kinda pointless seeing i got mod to separate the two. was tired of wondering why my pawns were starving when the game said i had 10000 meat, too find out it was human not animal.

The huge majority of RW players will probably consider insect meat "bad" for the huge majority of their scenarios (& ideology setups). No mod can ever satisfy everyone 100%, so I'd say it's a solid decision of the mod author here.

PS : I wish "rotten" (the selection right at the top) was forbidden by default in vanilla. I loathe having to tick that option each and every time (even if I question its utility, I've never seen anything, pawns, animals, bugs, etc., eating rotted stuff).
