Hey @Spacebar, Big fan of your work, you saved me a bunch of time making sails with blocks on my pirate ship.

Question though, are you still working on this mod? and if so, is there a chance of you adding small, medium, large size sails for large grids?
-I tried to use the ones provided but they are rather small on my large grid ship :(

As per your request I've taken down my update of your mod. However, I encourage you to edit the SBC files so that these sails are brought in line with the vanilla panels. Right now they use too many components and are slightly underpowered.

Can you possibly add larger versions for large ships please?

Photons, how do they work?

Actually solar sails are not propelled by any particles with mass, although thinking logically that would make since. Light sails propel a ship forward using photons that have energy and momentum, it is the transfer of this momentum that propels a ship with solar sails forward.

But since they travel along with light, you could simplify it that way...

@Rich. Actually, solar sails are not propeled by light itself but by other smaller particles with true mass that sun emits like ionts, atoms and other stuff.

What does that have to do with anything? I don't forget my mods. If a mod is broken you can report issues and I will fix them as I have time.

I'd rather you not. There is a reason I have that on all my mods now as someone reuploaded a version of one of my mods without my permission so this is something I take very seriously.

@DOOM 706 That... not how a Solar Sail works, it isnt a cloth solar panel, it effectively uses light from the sun to propel a ship, similar to a wind sail on Earth, even back in 2011 and 2014 NASA launched two Solar Sail-based craft into Earth orbit. This actually works.

this looks cool. i was ready to download it. but i dont understand how a sail generates solar power and as i understand it it is actuilly possible to move objects in space with solar sails so im incredibly dissapointed with how this works

@alanmatilla all you would need to do is add an invisable thruster with damage etc turned off.

@strangecalibur a particular module can only be one thing at a time. What you (and I) wish for requires them to be both a solar panel AND a thruster which is not possible for a single module. You could however use the model and skin but the definitions of a thruster in its own mod and use it along side this one as a power source. You would then have the appearance of a solar sail powered ship.

now all we need is them bo be legit solar sails

Well this mod was a lot more popular than I expected. Garrus I could do that, but it would be a long thinish sail. As far as replacing thrusters blaze firehoof, that would probably require scripting. Which i have no knowledge of

Could I kindly ask for a sail that is 15 small blocks long and 41 samll blocks tall, maybe 2 or 1 block wide (slack) I am making a sailboat and don't want to use "traditional" solar panels as sails.
