It's only for the SCS trucks not the VNL, but it certainly helps the realism factor when pulling doubles.
Maybe you should ask the truck mod's author Aradeth.
If you have your engine sound missing, I suggest to change your truck engine to another model (it's better to use the engines made by SCS) and see if the engine sound is back.
I believe it's caused by the sound play mechanism from the game's engine Prism3D. If you want to 100% perfectly fix it, some changes should be made on the game engine.
Still, that turbo whine "reset" drove me absolutely bonkers every single time, so I thank you very much for this fix. I can;t remember who made the sounds (again it wasn;t Aradeth. I think it was actually Kreichbaum) but I hope they eventually get their hands on this and integrate it.
