Panchuet’s AI Overhaul and Others
THIS MOD REQUIRES MANUAL INSTALLATION!!! THIS MUTATOR DOES NOTHING!!! DOWNLOAD THE MOD FROM GITHUB!!! FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS!!! USE WITH BETTER BOT TARGETING FOR THE BEST RESULTS!!!

Mod Overview
PAIO+ overhauls Ravenfield with smarter AI, cleaner gameplay, and carefully implemented improvements. This is a work in progress. More features and updates coming soon.

Installation Instructions
  1. Download the "Assembly-CSharp.dll" file from the official GitHub link: https://github.com/Panchuet/Panchuet-s-AI-Overhaul-and-Others/blob/main/Assembly-CSharp.dll. On the GitHub page, click "Download raw file".
  2. If you see a warning like "Unverified download blocked", it’s simply a standard safety precaution for .dll files. The file is safe, but you can scan it with your antivirus for peace of mind.
  3. Ensure that the downloaded file is named exactly "Assembly-CSharp.dll". Make sure you are installing it on EA32/the Stable Branch. The stable branch is listed as "none" in beta participation options.
  4. Find your Ravenfield Managed folder. This is usually found here:
    Steam\steamapps\common\Ravenfield\ravenfield_Data\Managed
    Alternatively, you can navigate to it via Steam:
    Right-click Ravenfield > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files > ravenfield_Data > Managed
  5. Copy the downloaded file into the Managed folder and choose to overwrite the existing file when prompted.
  6. Installation is now complete.
  7. If the mod is updated, you will need to install the new version following the same steps. Simply overwrite the existing file with the new one. You can check for updates by comparing the version in the mod’s title.

Uninstallation Instructions
  1. To uninstall, verify the integrity of game files via Steam:
    Right-click Ravenfield > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files
  2. If uninstallation was successful, Steam will display: "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." This means the original game file has been restored.

Changelog
Bot Behavior & Movement
  • Bots seek cover and sprint when under fire.
  • Bots seek cover and sprint when they spot enemies.
  • Bots crouch properly to stay hidden when in cover and under fire.
  • Bots prone in open areas or crouch in close-quarters when under fire and unable to find cover.
  • Bots keep suppressive fire on the target’s last known position after losing line of sight. If the target remains unseen, they drop the target.
  • Bots sprint to the target’s last known position after losing sight of their target.
  • Bots no longer always crouch when stationary. They crouch only when engaging a target and not in prone conditions; otherwise, they remain standing.
  • Bots stop moving when prone to fire and no longer shoot while proning and moving to prevent bad animations.
  • Bots go prone when shooting at enemies within a reasonable distance.
  • Bots no longer look around while prone to prevent erratic movements.
  • Bots led by a player mimic the player’s stance exactly — standing, crouching, or prone.
  • Bots sprint directly toward their target when charging in melee.
  • Bots using melee weapons no longer crouch unless taking cover and never go prone while attacking.
  • Bots flee to a greater distance when avoiding grenades.
  • Bots no longer stop moving while swimming.
  • Added the low-angle carry animation to bots(as seen in Spec Ops mode) to all modes for improved visuals.
  • Removed the “eye” muzzle effect where bots sometimes shot from their eyes instead of their weapon muzzle.
  • Fixed a vanilla bug where damaged bots became more accurate instead of less accurate.
  • Allowed bots to randomly select between multiple “best” weapons instead of always defaulting to the last one.
  • Adjusted the eye origin to its most accurate position, improving bot vision against both bots and players.
  • Tied accuracy to skill level: Beginner (least accurate), Normal, Veteran, and Elite (most accurate).
  • Applied accuracy penalties when bots are under fire or firing at moving targets.
  • Allowed bots to shoot at targets even if they can’t damage them (e.g., infantry shooting tanks) to fix vehicle-targeting edge cases and improve visual realism.
Vehicle & Driver Behavior
  • Drivers without weapons (excluding aircrafts) exit vehicles when capturing points.
  • Vehicles (excluding planes) flipped upside down are considered stuck, and bots abandon them to continue on foot.
  • Removed the previous speed limit on AI-driven vehicles; bots now drive at 100% maximum speed.
  • Fixed a vanilla bug that caused melee attacks to move or flip vehicles.
  • Boats that end up on land are treated as stuck, and squads continue on foot.
  • Helicopters have increased range, longer attack runs, and shorter cooldowns.
  • Airplanes have a lower minimum range and reduced attack run cooldown.
  • Non-watercraft vehicles no longer halt while in water.
Targeting & Combat Logic
  • Improved target classification logic:
    • Infantry 30 meters or more above ground are classified as “Air” targets, preventing ground units from firing at parachuting or high-altitude infantry.
    • Helicopters and aircraft flying 30 meters or less above ground are classified as “Ground” targets, making low-altitude flight riskier.
  • Increased teammate danger range to reduce friendly damage from rockets, explosives, and grenades.
Spec Ops Overhaul
  • Main scenario objective counts now scale with game length (scenarios repeat for more objectives):
    • Short: 25% of spawn points
    • Normal: 50% of spawn points
    • Long: 75% of spawn points
    • Epic: 100% of spawn points
  • Patrol spawning and additional clear patrol objectives now scale with game length:
    • Short: 1 infantry patrol; clear 0 patrol objectives
    • Normal: 2 infantry + 1 car; clear 1 random patrol objective
    • Long: 3 infantry + 2 cars + 1 boat; clear 2 random patrol objectives
    • Epic: 4 infantry + 3 cars + 2 boats; clear 3 random patrol objectives
  • Car patrols are randomized among: Jeep, JeepMG, Quad, Tank, APC.
  • Boat patrols always use RHIB (never Attack Boat). It is not a fun feeling to be destroying a battleship from land.
  • Vehicle crews now fill all seats.

FAQ
Is this EA32 only?
Yes, this release is compatible only with EA32 (Stable Branch). It does not work on the beta branch or older versions.

Why is my game crashing?
Confirm you are running EA32 (Stable). This mod is incompatible with other versions and will cause crashes.

What happens if the game updates?
If Ravenfield updates, the mod will become incompatible. Updating the game will overwrite the file and uninstall the mod. Wait for a new release when I update the mod.

Is this compatible with other mods?
Yes, this mod is compatible with all workshop items. It is only incompatible with HavenM, since both modify the same game file.

This or HavenM?
Try both and keep whichever you prefer.

I download it from github, but it's named a string of numbers, not the name it needs to be - however, when I download it, it refers to it by it's proper name. Any advice?

nope, low-flying aircraft should be valid targets for ground units, and i personally enjoy that mechanic. if you don’t, just use Flight Altitude Changer
