Panchuet’s AI Overhaul and Others
THIS MOD REQUIRES MANUAL INSTALLATION!!! THIS MUTATOR DOES NOTHING!!! DOWNLOAD THE MOD FROM GITHUB!!! FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS!!! USE WITH BETTER BOT TARGETING FOR THE BEST RESULTS!!!

Mod Overview
PAIO+ overhauls Ravenfield with smarter AI, cleaner gameplay, and carefully implemented improvements. This is a work in progress. More features and updates coming soon.

Installation Instructions
  1. Download the "Assembly-CSharp.dll" file from the official GitHub link: https://github.com/Panchuet/Panchuet-s-AI-Overhaul-and-Others/blob/main/Assembly-CSharp.dll. On the GitHub page, click "Download raw file".
  2. If you see a warning like "Unverified download blocked", it’s simply a standard safety precaution for .dll files. The file is safe, but you can scan it with your antivirus for peace of mind.
  3. Ensure that the downloaded file is named exactly "Assembly-CSharp.dll". Make sure you are installing it on EA32/the Stable Branch. The stable branch is listed as "none" in beta participation options.
  4. Find your Ravenfield Managed folder. This is usually found here:
    Steam\steamapps\common\Ravenfield\ravenfield_Data\Managed
    Alternatively, you can navigate to it via Steam:
    Right-click Ravenfield > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files > ravenfield_Data > Managed
  5. Copy the downloaded file into the Managed folder and choose to overwrite the existing file when prompted.
  6. Installation is now complete.
  7. If the mod is updated, you will need to install the new version following the same steps. Simply overwrite the existing file with the new one. You can check for updates by comparing the version in the mod’s title.

Uninstallation Instructions
  1. To uninstall, verify the integrity of game files via Steam:
    Right-click Ravenfield > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files
  2. If uninstallation was successful, Steam will display: "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." This means the original game file has been restored.

Changelog
Bot Behavior & Movement
  • Bots will now seek cover in all combat situations.
  • Bots under fire will seek cover and sprint when possible.
  • Bots that spot enemies will seek cover and sprint when possible.
  • Bots unable to find cover will prone in open areas or crouch in close-quarters.
  • Bots crouch only when engaging a target; otherwise, they remain standing.
  • Bots now cannot shoot while proning and moving to avoid horrendous animations. Instead, bots will now stop moving when prone to fire.
  • Bots will prone when shooting at enemies within a more reasonable distance.
  • Bots can no longer look around while prone, preventing sudden erratic movements
  • Bots already in cover and under fire will crouch properly to hide behind cover.
  • Bots charging in melee will sprint directly at their target.
  • Bots using melee weapons also will no longer crouch unless taking cover, and will never prone while attacking.
  • Improved player-led squadmate stance: bots now mimic the player's stance exactly — standing, crouching, or prone — giving players more precise control.
  • Bots now flee to a greater distance when avoiding grenades.
Vehicle & Driver Behavior
  • Drivers (exluding of helicopters and planes) without weapons will now exit vehicles when capturing points.
  • Vehicles (excluding planes) flipped upside down are considered stuck. Bots will abandon them and continue on foot.
  • Removed the previous speed limit on AI-driven vehicles; bots now drive at 100% max speed.
  • Fixed a vanilla bug that caused melee attacks to move or flip vehicles.
  • All boats that end up on land are now treated as “stuck,” and squads will continue on foot.
  • Helicopters now have increased range, longer attack runs, and shorter cooldowns.
  • Airplanes now have a lower minimum range and reduced attack run cooldown.
Targeting & Combat Logic
  • Adjusted eye origin to its most accurate position, improving bot vision against both bots and players.
  • Accuracy is now tied to skill level: Beginner (least accurate), Normal, Veteran, Elite (most accurate).
  • Bots now suffer accuracy penalties when:
    • Under fire
    • Firing at moving targets
  • Experimentally allowed bots to shoot at targets even if they can’t damage them (e.g., infantry shooting tanks). This mainly fixes vehicle-targeting edge cases where seats are incorrectly flagged as “enclosed” and ignored by bots despite being physically open. Also, it’s just very cool to see infantry helplessly firing at armored vehicles.
  • Massively improved targeting logic:
    • Infantry 30 meters or more above ground are now classified as "Air" targets. Ground infantry won’t shoot at airborne or parachuting bots at incredibly high altitudes anymore. However, this also means that airborne infantry are now fair targets for AA guns, turrets, and similar weapons.
    • Helicopters and aircraft flying 30 meters or less above ground are classified as "Ground" targets. Ground infantry will shoot at these low-flying aircraft, making low-altitude flight riskier.
  • Increased teammate danger range to reduce friendly damage from rockets, explosives, and grenades.
  • Fixed a vanilla bug where damaged AI would become more accurate instead of less accurate.
  • Bots now randomly select between multiple "best" weapons instead of always defaulting to the last one
Visuals & Animations
  • Added the low-angle carry animation (as seen in Spec Ops mode) to all modes for improved visuals.
  • Experimentally removed the "eye" muzzle effect, where bots sometimes shoot from their eyes instead of their weapon muzzle in certain situations.

FAQ
Is this EA32 only?
Yes, this release is compatible only with EA32 (Stable Branch). It does not work on the beta branch or older versions.

Why is my game crashing?
Confirm you are running EA32 (Stable). This mod is incompatible with other versions and will cause crashes.

What happens if the game updates?
If Ravenfield updates, the mod will become incompatible. Updating the game will overwrite the file and uninstall the mod. Wait for a new release when I update the mod.

Is this compatible with other mods?
Yes, this mod is compatible with all workshop items. It is only incompatible with HavenM, since both modify the same game file.

This or HavenM?
Try both and keep whichever you prefer.

yeah, that’s basically because low-flying aircraft are treated as ground targets. unfortunately, there’s no way to prevent it from overriding a missile’s normal lock-on limitations. havenm also has this feature (i actually suggested it), so it’s not unique here.

as for the second point, that’s most likely just some janky ai behavior. i haven’t touched helicopter boarding logic at all.

this mod is intentionally smaller in scope. i want something simple and focused, rather than going over the top, which doesn’t really fit ravenfield anyway. keeping it smaller makes it more polished and reduces the number of bugs compared to havenm and its many experimental features.

I decided to try this mod out today and enjoyed it so far, though I have noticed a few strange things.
AI seem to be able to break the normal weapon restrictions, being capable of locking ATGMs (not the wire guided ones) and AGMs onto aircraft. This may have to do with how aircraft flying low are treated as ground targets, but I don’t think this should override a missile’s lock on limitations.
At some point in a battle, the enemy refused to use their planes and only boarded helicopters when using aircraft. Unknown if this is related to the mod or just the AI being eccentric, but pointing it out just in case.
Personally, I think this mod could use a few more features to be a better contender to HavenM, but it is still very good.

When i download it the file has a 1 in it and when i drop it into the folder where its suppose to go it doesnt replace the folder its suppose to replace.
