Bakumatsu: Modernization Period

描述
The Age of Peace is over, the western powers have returned, the shogunate and emperor clash, and our nation is officially at war

Bakumatsu: Modernization Period is a mod that seeks to overhaul the gameplay of Fall of the Samurai by creating a bigger highlight on the usage of new gunpowder weapons and the phase out of most melee.

To do this, the mod increases the massive capabilities of the new weapons, and increase their melee, making melee units mostly obsolete

General Units
- Most unit sizes have been increased
- Walkspeed decreased but run speed increased



Modern Units
Times are changing, we must keep up less we fall behind and suffer like others before us
+ INCREASED RELOAD RATE FOR ALL GUN UNITS
+ Bayonets implemented (Thanks to Lordrodjx11's mod)
+ Increased melee stats for lines with higher charge bonuses making them much better in melee combat
+ Tighter Formation for Line Infantry
+ Price and upkeep changes for most line units
+ New Modern Units to replace your levy and line infantry after getting modern rifles
+ Range increased to 150, 200 for sharpshooters



Melee Units
The way of the sword and spear are over. It's time to set them aside
+ Spear Levy now use long yaris and are given the spear wall ability
- Relatively unchanged but the new Gunpowder buffs should make them entirely obsolete, especially with line infantry having higher melee stats now



Cavalry Units
The State of Cavalry is now declining, but perhaps they're not entirely useless
+ Massive increase to charge bonus
+ Massive stat increase to sabre cav
- Mostly smaller unit counts, making them very weak to gunpowder units


Modern Line/Levy Infantry
With access to new weapons, these soldiers have been equipped with more modern rifles
+ Modern Lines get breechloaders while modern levies get the rifle of regular line infantry
+ Meant to be a cheaper and easier alternative to SIR infantry.
- Mostly Identical to their counterparts with added reload skill and accuracy
- Higher Upkeep than regular

Breech-loading Sharpshooters
Sharpshooters using the new and improved breechloading rifles for improved rate of fire
+ Sharpshooters with the new breech-loading rifles, with higher accuracy and reload skill
- Higher Upkeep


NOTE
Rifle sounds may be buggy by not having any sounds while shooting. I do not know how to fix this unfortunately and haven't tested any soundfix mods, so you may have to try those out yourself

I didn't find any gunfire bugs or sound bugs, but most of the units' guns were gone. They raised their empty hands, aimed, and fired normally.

uh yeah, as @hoangngandeptrai said enemy AI ship have more range than we do, Hell even double time than i do, im only have 2 mod = extended camera minimap and bakumatsu so ime sure the error is coming from bakumatsu, could be any chance that the error only effected to only us only?

You should remove the melee and traditional units. Keep only gunpowder units ingame.

Again though, no idea if this is a problem with the base game, my mod or mods you have activated.I did say again though that I have not touched stats of naval units. Naval Units are untouched minus upkeep, that's the only thing changed.

In my gameplay, I have had no issues with the AI ship, so I'm not sure what could be causing it or if its even the fault of my mod too.

bajiwolf Then i hope your improve this error mate , cause 10/10 i sail my ships to fight the naval battles , even with the highest tier vessel like ironclad with the range of 1000 , i still have to get them close to the A.I ship which somehow shoot first 2- 3 times at my ships from an incredible far range , this whole campaign my coastal settlements have been bombarded likehell and i can not do anything about it , even with the access to ironclad , ironplated vesels research

I haven't touched anything except upkeep when in regards to ships. I've only ever really touched land units in terms of stats so I have no idea why that's the case, and if its more of a problem with the mod, base game FOTS or another mod you have

the mod is rigged , the firing range of my navy always is shorter than that of the A.I . i have to get my ships closer to them to shoot the first volley , by that time the enemy ships have already shot 3 -4 volleys on me , even with the ironclad and highest tier vessel , it is same problem . 10 OUT OF TEN , I lose the naval battles and let them bombarding the ♥♥♥♥ out of my building in game so W . T .F

On weapon ranges: Using effective ranges as max range would mean that bows would have 40m range. Probably even shorter during FOTS, as bows grew weaker during the long period of peace.

Japanese themselves deemed that Tanegashimas (replicate matchlock arquebus) had effective range of ~100 yard effective range. More technologically advanced guns of 1860s would surely hhave longer ranges. Like how average engagement range during Gettysburg was 200 yards.

150 is absolutely not absurd. my baker shoots accurately out that far
