XC-120 Packplane

A modular cargo transport aircraft for all your heavy-lifting needs!

Thank you all So Much for top 3 on the workshop!

Description

The Fairchild XC-120 Packplane was an experimental modular transport aircraft developed from the C-119 Flying Boxcar in the 1950s. Unlike conventional cargo planes, the XC-120 used removable cargo pods instead of an internal cargo bay, making it highly versatile.

This recreation features full cargo-handling capabilities, a detailed interior with equipment, and sleeping quarters. It can carry cargo pods and up to two containers, making it perfect for logistics operations.

Features
  • Top speed: 190 knots
  • Range: Over 2,000 km
  • Cargo options: Container rack (holds 1–2 containers) or custom cargo pod
  • Cargo pod with: Auto-parachute system & front/rear loading doors
  • Navigation: Radar & transponder locator map
  • Autopilot: For long-haul flights
  • Landing gear: Quad arrangement (two per side)
  • Included Equipment: Cargo tuggy by Tater

Startup Procedure
  1. Enter the aircraft via the landing gear well.
  2. Flip on all engine switches in front of the engine quadrant.
  3. Disable parking brake (left side of the front panel).
  4. Throttle up and take off.
  5. Raise landing gear.

Cargo Operations:
Container Rack:
  • Switches on either side enable electrical connectors.
  • Holds one or two containers in multiple configurations.
Cargo Pod & Container Detachment:
  • Use the loader panel in the cabin to detach cargo.
  • Left & right hardpoint switches drop the cargo pod or container rack.
  • Front/Middle/Rear switches release corresponding containers.
  • Gripper Switches release the brakes and grippers.

Whether you're hauling supplies or testing modular cargo systems, the XC-120 Packplane is ready for the job!

Now get flying, pilot!

@P3bbles, done. @LordStarscream311, the cargo pod wheels are automated. When both of the side hardpoints are detached, the wheels automatically come down and the automatic parachute system is armed. Release either the connectors or connector brakes to drop the pod. Please comment if you have any other questions :D
