Rigel - Submarine Yacht (AIP)

描述
Before anything is decided let me define a submarine's purposes: the secondary is whatever it's designed for, and the primary is to stay undetected while doing so. What i need you to understand is that no good up-standing citizen has enough to hide to warrant purchasing this vessel. Legally it's a yacht, sure, but for who is it a leisure to bring you and your plus-one to the brink of instantaneous destruction at the many hands of the ocean? It is no research vessel either, lest your scientific inquiries consist of "How much LSD can one man take?" or "How does it feel to take the life of a Swedish journalist?". Completing this purchase is an easy ticket to finding yourself in the binoculars of various coast guard agencies around whatever body of water you care to plop this into, whether you aim to beat the Guinness World Record for "Most cocaine ingested at a depth greater than 200 meters" or not. As I doubt you have a secret volcano island base, for which you need this to commute to every morning, I'll leave it to you to weigh the options........ But with those facts sorted, do you want the interior fittings in mahogany or chestnut?

Rigel is a 22.5 meter submarine yacht fitted with air independent propulsion. Designed during the late 60s (a fact which is painfully obvious), she sports a mix of innovative yet proven design and engineering, requiring just an experienced, yet singular operator. Featuring Accommodations for two, the boat has become (in)famous among both underwater daredevils and explorers of controlled uncharted substances.

so how do you drive the damn thing? (Quick Start Guide)

First and foremost, Rigel consists of 3 compartments. The inaccessible engine room(1), the control room(2), and the accommodation space(3). They all house important instruments and equipment necessary for the operation of the vessel. Operation should be rather self explanatory, but if this is not the case (WALNUT), it will be explained.

The short version goes:
- 1. Engine on (1.1.1)
- 2. Engine feed from on-board air (2.1)
- 3. Ventilation valve closed and hatch locked (common sense)
- 4. AIP Battery air and other compressed air sufficient (2.1), (2.3.1)
- 5. Ballast set to correct value (2.3.1)
- 6. Dive (may only your most wildest whims lead you)

1. Engine Room

theres not much in here i dont know what to tell ya

1.1 Engine

- A beast of a one cylinder engine, capable of being fed either from the outside atmosphere or the on-board oxygen tank. This reliable contraption is capable of propelling the submarine to speeds of 13 knots surfaced and 17 knots submerged.

1.1.1 Ignition

- just tuirn it on man

2. Control Room

Rigel's largest compartment. Houses a lot of stuff, most of it within an arm's reach of the operator.

2.1 Oxygen Battery

- This thing is crucial to operating the vessel underwater. Switches "Charge Oxygen Battery"(1) and "Feed Internal Oxygen"(2) do what you would expect. (1) Pumps air into the flasks when surfaced, and (2) makes the engine feed from said flasks, as it otherwise bypasses the system entirely. The engine may run on air trapped in the pipes for a few minutes, but eventually it will run out and need to be switched to on-board air.

Note: if 3.1 (Cabin Habitat Interface) is active in the "Oxygen Replenisher" mode, oxygen from the flasks will be released into the cabin to replace gasses filtered out by the machine. This is a necessary procedure whose effect on underwater endurance should be accounted for.

2.2 Helm

- you drive it from here innit. All dials and switches are labelled and do what youd expect.

2.2.1 Navigation Display

- A multi function display placed directly above the helm. It shows various positional information as well as a hydrophone. It features 3 main screens, each with one alternate mode, totalling 6 different modes.

- Mode 1, A vertical navigation display showing the boat's angle in relation to the surface, held depth, and sea floor. Alternate mode switches between depth and a variometer.

- Mode 2, A map showing where you are (wow). This mode displays heading and depth under keel.
Alternate mode changes the magnification of the drawn map.

- Mode 3, A simple passive hydrophone. It will show contacts and what bearing they're at. but not much more. As the hydrophone is the most power-hungry piece of equipment on board, it has to be toggled separately.
Alternate mode switches between a north-locked and ship-locked mode.

2.2.2 Periscope

- It's a periscope. Not an amazing one, but one that many would call "enough"

2.3 Depth-Keeping Station

- Placed behind the helm, this station houses most equipment necessary for submerging and whatnot.

2.3.1 Ballast Controls

- The ballast systems on Rigel are simple to understand and operate. The "Flood" keys fill the tanks with water and the "Purge" keys drain them of it, granted there is enough pressurized air in each air battery (something easily remedied by enabling the compressors when surfaced). The ballast tanks may have trouble filling in rough weather, but as long as care is taken to have them fill at a vaguely similar rate it should go down eventually.

Note: As required weight will increase as the fuel tank drains, there are 2 listed ballast values for each tank. The markings on the tank gauges go from value at full tank to empty: as fuel depletes, interpolate in between these markings. For convenience, the raw values in litres are written on the table next to the station, they are as follows:

"Fore Tank: 2895L Full, 3870L Empty"

"Aft Tank: 2332L Full, 3630L Empty"

3. Accommodation

Rigels most vaguely luxurious space, fitted with 2 beds, a head, and the machines meant to assist you if (when) ♥♥♥♥ goes to ♥♥♥♥.

3.1 Cabin Habitat Interface

- The machine that makes sure the inside of Rigel is full of breathable air and no water.

3.1.1 Bilge Pump

- Pumps water out. shrimple

3.1.2 Oxygen Replenisher

- Filters out carbon dioxide and other unwanted gases. As the presence of you, a living, breathing, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, human in the cabin of this vessel is required for its continued function, CO2 will slowly accumulate within its atmosphere. This, is bad, for both you and by extension the submarine, and for that reason the oxygen replenisher exists.

Note: As stated in the description of 2.1 (Oxygen Battery), this will drain oxygen from the on-board flasks. Additionally, if operated in conjunction with the bilge pump it might have the effect of increasing pump performance.

3.2 Electrical Cabinet

- Houses information about the status of the vessels electrical systems, as well as the breakers supplying power to all of the various things.

3.3 Head

- The source of the only mines this sub will be laying

3.3.1 Emergency Battery Crank

- The engine may not start if the voltage is too low, such as in the case of: bad. In cases of bad, you can start cranking it in the head until the starter battery voltage is high enough to allow the engine to turn over.

3.4 Radio

- im gonna be honest i didnt feel like testing this one so if it doesnt work let me know

Okay I will try that (thanks if it works if it does not still thanks)

i cant remember if i put it in the description but its semi-common knowledge that a lot of ECUs dont like it

are you on inf fuel? it starts just fine without it

Help the engine wont turn on i have tried everything and it wont turn on:steamsad:

nvm i found where the fuel is located

Id like to know the range of this sub...

the sonar block was changed to draw an insane amount of power, so yes thats why the breaker exists

if your struggling to produce power i found if you turn of the hydrophone breaker it charges pretty well

if this was irl i could see myself buying this and pretty much living in it

Perfect for modification for my rebell- I mean peaceful resistance group against the AI Navy. I'd like my inner fittings in Mahogany, please.
