Welcome!

This collection brings all my Spain mods together. For those who don't know, I began making mods for RL based on Spain, in August 2024 as there was a lack of Spanish content. Not even Iberian Gauge tracks! Since then, my mods have reached a wide audience and one of them even got to the front page!

At the moment, you can find some asset packs and my Compact Comp 2 entry, but as you might have guessed I'm always cooking something so there will be more and more content. Also, you will start seeing rolling stock here soon, including locomotives, multiple units, high speed trains, passenger coaches and more. I will also make layouts, both fictional and real-life recreations. Enjoy!

In 2023 I got Rolling Line for New Year. I heard of the game thanks to a youtuber (Frantic) and I suscribed to some of the layouts he played with. I was amazed by the excellent quality of the content for this game, I couldn't stop downloading more trains, more layouts, more props! However, there was a problem: there wasn't much Spanish content, only some layouts which resembled the country and a few trains, but there weren't Spanish signals, there weren't Spanish props, and there wasn't an Iberian gauge track style. How could an Iberian gauge train run on standard gauge tracks? Obviously that doesn't matter in the game, but for me it did.

I forgot about that and focused on enjoying the items we already had. I watched other people make layouts for RL so I decided I wanted to make one myself. As Spanish content was lacking, making a Spanish-themed layout was discarded, how could I make a so-called Iberian layout if we didn't have the most basic details for it? I ended up going for a British layout. I named it Derdon Route (because the main station was called, well... Derdon). So I was super excited for making the project, I dreamt about creating a great layout. So I put the first pieces of track and then, well... I don't remember why but I stopped and forgot about Derdon and Rolling Line.

Months passed and then, in August 2024, I returned to Rolling Line, and this time I also wanted to make a layout. I decided to recreate the real Torre del Bierzo station (Idk why I picked that station, for some reason I liked it), with all details. Spanish content was still lacking, however, this time I took a different approach: instead of adapting to the available resources, I decided to create them myself!
If we want to recreate a real place in full detail, first we need the resources to make it. I decided to start with the tracks as they are the easiest in terms of 3D modelling, to gain experience and practice for the future. I didn't even know what normals were at that time and I had some problems with textures, but I managed to finish the mod. It was just a pack of Iberian gauge rails, a basic ballast and very basic sleepers.

I wanted my item to be catchy on the workshop and to develop a professional feeling. I like order and consistency so I decided to make a "brand" that would unify all my mods. That is the "SPAIN" logo you can find on thumbnails, both here and in-game too. I finally published the Iberian Gauge Track Style on August 13th 2024. It received lots of support and was pretty successful. With the tracks done, the next step was making props, such as signals, platforms, catenary, etc. Rolling stock was also in my plans but it was a bit too soon as I wasn't ready for the massive task of recreating a train. More mods were published during the following months under the unified "SPAIN" brand.
One day, I opened Steam and I saw that there was going to be a layout comp. I thought it would be interesting to participate but I wasn't sure if it was too risky. In the end, I decided to participate and use this competition as an opportunity to learn more about layout building.

I spent lots of time thinking about the it. It had to be easy, quick, effective and adapted to what was available. Obviously making custom props (except for the station) was off the table because of time constraints, but nothing to worry because of the dozens of Spanish props available on the workshop, thanks to me! After hours and hours of thinking, I picked the idea: a Spanish layout inspired by Asturias with a small old station and a small town. It was not a very difficult task but it was aesthetically effective. I named it "La Antigua" (The Ancient), reinforcing the idea of it being based around an old railway.

Overall, the process was pretty easier than I thought (except for the terrain... for some reason it took me hours to make a good terrain in Blender) and I managed to finish it in a few days. It had to be redesigned twice because I underestimated the size constraints. La Antigua was published on April 18th 2025, receiving lots of support and it even got to the front page! So I'm grateful for that. It didn't win but what matters is that I feel proud of my creation, even if it was not excellent. May and early June were not very intensive but then I decided to start a project, which is still the biggest mod I've ever made.
This is the most recent chapter of the collection. I have a content to-do list which helps me keep track of my projects and their progress (if anyone is curious, I use Obsidian, amazing software by the way, with the Tasks plugin) so everything is planned months beforehand. Out of my list of rolling stock I would like to make, the best one to start with was the Serie 333 Prima: it was simple to model, modern with lots of liveries. Works began in mid June and finished in late July, so a bit over a month of very intensive work. It was the first time I continuosly worked on a huge project without stopping in between, so it's definitely an amazing feat. As I said before, it was an easy locomotive to model but still presented some challenges, being the cab the hardest part to make.

The 333 Prima was finally published on July 26th, being my most successful mod as of today. It got to the third place of the front page and received more support and positive reaction from the community than anything I've ever done. So, thank you all for supporting me and for keeping me motivated to continue my hard work!
The future is brighter than ever: more trains from different eras, more prop categories (bridges, fences and more) and, obviously, the existing packs will be updated.
