Diaspora

描述
Diaspora (formely known as Far From Home) is a simple mod that allows you to select a different home planet than the one you start on. The concept is similar to the Lost Colony origin, except it allows for two different species to have the same homeworld even if separated by light-years.

What does the mod do?
The mod adds 24 traits that can be used for setting up different home planets than their starting planet. The Homeworlder traits determine the worlds that will be the homeworlds for the species using the Diaspora traits. The Exodus traits select a random barren planet in the galaxy to act as your homeworld. The planet will always start with a Terraforming Candidate modifier if you want to role-play as someone who lost their homeworld to some sort of cataclysm.

Setup
  • Create a species with the Homeworlder trait. This species will mark the homeworld for all other species using the respective Diaspora trait.
  • Create a species with the Diaspora trait.
  • Force Spawn the one you aren't playing as, or both of them.
  • There are only 8 Homeworlder traits meaning there are max 8 different shared homeworlds in a game.
  • There are also only 8 Diaspora traits, but they can be used multiple times, so there is nothing stopping you from every species having originated from the same planet if you wish.

Interaction with the Lost Colony Origin
The Commonwealth of Man starts with the Alpha Homeworlder trait instead of the Alpha Diaspora trait. This is because Lost Colony spawns a planet that will act as a homeworld for this species, making said homeworld the anchor point for all other species. So basically Earth spawns as the homeworld for the Commonwealth of Man Humans and is treated as the homeworld for the purposes of the Alpha Homeworlder trait.

Compatibility
Besides prescripted_countries, this mod also doesn't overwrite any vanilla files, so it should stay compatible with most mods.

This reminds me of Distant origin (That i've used for a long time). I been wanting to make a Human only diaspora galaxy and here's one I found for that.

Awesome thanks for letting me know!

You can create your own empire in Sol. The UNE and CoM are there in the case you'd want to play alongside them in your game. The Lost colony origin is also not needed for the mod to work so you can pick and chose. Just follow the setup guide and you should be fine.

Hello if I want to make a mostly human galaxy with your mod should I make my own empire in sol or can I use the UNE, and CoM?

Looks cool. Seems a bit like a "lite" approach to the Distant Origins mod, which I've used in the past: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1249001485

This mod doesn't affect force spawning behaviour in general. Multiple of them can be spawned in at the same time if you set them to but only one will be the de facto true homeworld.

Even if you force spawned multiple Epsilon Homeworld Races, only one will still spawn in, right?

Fair enough. I guess two things I can see being possible is Far From Home Race's homeworld isn't their species preference, and maybe making races with corresponding homeworlds be able to force integrate another one with trust or positive relations and all that.

Not exactly. They are functionally just tags that determine your homeworld, that get removed after game start. The other thing is that if your home planet isn't your starting planet means you don't get the +30% habitability on it.

I have plans on expanding the mod in the future, but as of now I don't have a satisfying way to do it without it being extreme jank.
