Amour pour l'Espagne?

Despite the potentially misleading title, yes, this mod is focused on bringing content to Spain (which really needs it). The name comes from the fact that the mod was originally going to focus on both France and Spain, but after the release of "Voice of the People", all those plans fell apart.

The goal of the mod is to enhance the 19th-century Spanish experience, trying to make it as painful as it was in real life. My objective is to keep improving it little by little until papa Paradox decides to release a proper Españita pack. As more details about the "Iberian Twilight" DLC are revealed towards the end of the year, I’ll decide the future direction of the mod.

Balance
  • New initial political, economic, and diplomatic situation for Spain. Also starts with extra techs in the Society tree
  • Spain controls some islands in Micronesia. There were already some outposts like Guam
  • Spain starts with the Colonial Resettlement law active. To balance it out, it also starts with a temporary modifier to colonization speed
  • Spain starts with claims in Western Sahara. Morocco loses its claim there, as it makes little historical sense — but retains its claim on Cape Juby
  • Melilla and the Canary Islands are now incorporated states.
  • The Philippines starts with a pro-Spain lobby.
  • The Philippines starts with the laws of Traditionalism, Hereditary Bureaucrats, Charity Hospitals, and Land-Based Taxation to better reflect its reality
  • Cuba starts with the laws of Agrarianism, Oligarchy, and Land-Based Taxation to better reflect its reality
  • France starts with claims in Mauritania and Senegal (a small change that greatly improves Africa’s appearance by preventing the British from entering the Sahara)

Compatibility
This mod only fully overwrites the Southern Europe military formations file (00_military_formations_europe.txt).

Besides, it modifies the requirements to annex a puppet-colony, the requirements for joining the liberal, patriotic, and agrarian parties, along with basic content related to Spain; however, these are not necessary for the mod’s functionality, so they can be overwritten without any problem.

That gives near-total compatibility with most mods that don’t heavily alter game mechanics (for example, it’s incompatible with ‘Better Politics Mod [BPM]’ since that one significantly changes interest group behavior)

When I win the Carlist war on the Carlist side, and the event for victory fires, my flag is replaced by an empty rectangle. Something to do with the flag definition, I'd guess, since the SPA_CAS to SPA flagging when turning from Carlist Spain to default Spain probably bugs things.

Is there any way around to fix it?

1. Nope, it has been made dynamic using the political movement system. The Carlist War trigger when the political movement revolts. Although usually the northern states are the ones that revolt, sometimes, for example, Aragon can remain loyal to the government while Galicia joins the Carlists, but yes, demolish barracks in the northen states it’s a valid strategy for weakening the Carlist movement.

2. Yes, you can move it there. But keep in mind that this would strengthen the Carlist cause by giving Navarre extra political power.

3.Nowadays, a lot of mechanics are broken when forming Iberia. It’s one of the things I want to fix after the release of Iberian Twilight.

Hello @Almanto, I'm really enjoying your mod! It makes playing Spain so much more interesting. I have three quick questions about the mechanics:

Carlist Wars: Are the uprising states scripted/fixed? When the second Carlist war fires, do they spawn in the same historical strongholds (Basque, Navarra, etc.)? I'm planning a strategy: is it viable to demolish barracks in those states (or just not build new ones there) to reduce the number of battalions that defect to the rebels?

Capital: I like moving my capital to Navarra for economic reasons. Does this break any of the mod's scripted events or journal entries that might be tied to Madrid?

Iberia Formation: If I form Iberia before finishing all the unique Spanish journal entries, do those JEs carry over to Iberia, or are they removed (ending the mod's content)?

Ya Alfonso XIII y tema de la dictadura de Primo de Rivera ya son muy lejanos para representar. Todavía faltan un montón de cosas con el s. XIX.

Sin embargo, Alfonso XII si existe en el mod, pero con unas condiciones. Cuando finaliza la regencia y empieza a gobernar Isabel, entra la mecánica de que el gobierno es el que propone cónyuge (y no a través de la interacción como se hace con el resto de personajes).

Cuando ya Isabel tenga la mayoría de edad, saltará el evento con las diferentes propuestas. Una de ellas (si sabes el origen de Alfonso XII) llevará a su posible nacimiento.
