“During the Battle of The Ark, the Gravemind teleports and crash lands the remnants of High Charity on the installation in an attempt to stop the Prophet of Truth from activating the rings. A large chunk of the station containing Flood has landed near a familiar, curious gorge. UNSC and Elite forces stationed at the waterfront tower are quickly attacked by the parasitic horde. You must hold out as long as possible against the Flood.”

*This mod has been updated to be compatible with the MCC patch released on September 17th, 2025.*

My next AI War project is now complete. Valhalla has been transformed into a Flood outbreak apocalypse, with new visuals and flood themed background audio for an extra immersive feel. This mod is simpler then my other projects, with this being a more infantry focused fight instead of an all out war with vehicles. As with my other projects, the battle will go on forever, with all forces being replenished shortly after being eliminated. Conventional military units will back up the survivors at first. After they are lost, special operations teams will be flown in to assist. Choose to hold off the infected horde, or join the flood and help spread the parasite. The nearby Forerunner structure has detected the intruders, and is sending in Sentinel flights to help neutralize the threat. They will attack anyone in the valley - so keep your eyes to the sky if possible.

Features:

  • An endless AI war that will go on for as long as the game lasts.
  • Major visual and audio changes to Valhalla's environment/ecosystem.
  • *NEW* Spawn Controllers for each and every AI squad that appears on map. You are the boss and are fully in control over the battle.
  • *NEW* A vastly expanded Forge palette. Every Weapon, Vehicle, and most scenery objects from the DLC map "Sandbox" included on this map.
  • Special forces delivered by dropships for the survivors once the starting squads are eliminated.
  • Assorted Flood forms and equipped weapons, so each fight is different every time. Carriers, Pure forms, and Combat forms all included.
  • UNSC special forces of ODST's with random weapons.
  • Elite forces with assorted, randomly chosen ranks and gear. Accompanied by special operations Grunts that also come with randomly picked gear.
  • Pathfinding everywhere.
  • Custom H2A themed Elites. See credits section below!
  • Increased Forge budget to $15000.
  • Sentinels that will fly into the valley and attack anyone they come across.
  • All AI squads (except the initial waterfront personnel) are infinitely respawned once killed.


*CO-OP is NOT supported on this mod. Only the host player will see AI behaving properly. All clients will have visual anomalies and desync for the AI combatants.


How to Install and Play:

Subscribe to the mod on Steam. Once the download is complete, launch your game with Anti Cheat disabled. Head into Forge or Custom games, select Halo 3, and then choose modded maps. Find Floodhalla, and then load in as usual. You are now all set.

Custom Assets Credits:


AI Teams:

  • UNSC/Elites - GREEN
  • Flood - PURPLE
  • Sentinels - GOLD

On all other teams, the player will be alone with no ally AI.

Spawning:

With update 1.2 of this mod, team spawns have been made to be more consistent across the board. Due to Halo 3 multiplayer limitations, this takes some effort from you the player to set up each game. Following this process is not required if you do not care about where players will respawn. If you do want your spawns to work correctly, follow this procedure each time you start a new game on this map.

Make sure you are on the RED team when in the pregame lobby. After configuring your settings, launch the match. Make sure you are still on the RED team on the first spawn in. From here, you are going to be joining a few teams in a very specific order. This matters. Please follow this order exactly:

Change from RED to BLUE > GREEN > ORANGE > PURPLE > GOLD.


After you make it to GOLD, you are all set. Join the teams listed above in the AI teams section to ally yourself with a faction. Spawns will be consistent with the sides the AI arrive on. Green will spawn you in the UNSC side, Purple will spawn you on the Flood side, and Gold will spawn you in the map's center near the Sentinel spawn. Being on any other team color other than GREEN, PURPLE, or GOLD will result in you being alone with no AI allies. If you fail the above order of team swaps, you will need to return to the pregame lobby, reset yourself to RED team, and start again in a fresh session.

Known issues/limitations:

  • When looking directly down in certain locations of the map, lighting bugs may appear.

Floodhalla has been patched with official support for the September 17th MCC update. The map will appear and be playable fully again. Enjoy!

@Roach Emperor Ahh, no worries. Thanks for detailing your process to me. Here’s what’s going on:

With the Halo developer tools, all assets need to be added to a map via the tools, and then compiled as a new level to be used. The links I gave above were to assets that are compatible with the dev tools. They cannot be installed via a drag and drop into a directory to make them function with already created maps in MCC. The formats are completely different. That’s just not how things work with the Halo game engines. So I would uninstall those files as they have no use in their current format.

I posted those links to give credit to the modders who ported those assets from the H2A format into H3’s for use with Halo 3’s dev tools. Outside of this, these files cannot do anything to change how any map within the MCC works.

I wish it was as easy as a drag and drop, but it is not. It would make modding Halo much easier for sure. I hope this information helps!

@III AVIATOR III Right, I installed it, extracted the zip and copied tags into the directory. Went into a modded forge halo 3 avalanche map in order to spawn in the elites and they only look like the regular H3 models and not the H2A models that I installed. Sorry for not specifying.

Does the Halo 2a elites work in forge? I've been trying for like 2 hours supposedly installing it correctly and trying it out just to be met with the regular halo 3 elite models in forge

also i got a question have you ever thought of making a unsc vs flood on high ground like the unsc marines man the walls and a few spawn in that front bunker and hold off the flood as a unsc pelican drop off a squad of marines to reinforce unless its not possible

Most of them start in the on state, but not all do. If the button flashes intermittently, the switch is off and you can enable/disable it as many times as you like. There are also two switches at the rear of the UNSC base that when pressed, immediately place AI. These then revert back to off automatically once their corresponding AI have been killed. All of the buttons on map have custom info text letting you know which squad each controls. There is also a guide thread posted above with additional info regarding the system. Although, it is a bit outdated and the system has changed somewhat since that was written.
