In Memory of Captain Richard, Henrietta King and Kinenos Vasqueros and families

Bit of History:

Texas Express is based on the King Ranch established by Captain Richard and Henrietta King. Ranch was purchased in 1853 consisted of 15,500 acres. Imported short horn cattle from England cross breed them with Texas Longhorns and developed the Santa Gertrudes cattle breed they have a high resistance to Texas Tick fever. The cattle breed is named after the Santa Gertrudes river runs thru the King Ranch. The registered brand is the running W looks like a rattle snake on the ground. King Ranch has several tack shops thru out Texas. Has expanded the King Ranch into Oklahoma. King Ranch had Ford introduce the Ford King Ranch pickup.

The Vaquero and families are from Northern Mexico Cruillas in the state of Tamaulipas.
Capt Richard King purchased all of the Texas Longhorn cattle from the Vaqueros and offered to hire the Vaqueros and bring there families to the King Ranch. Provide a education for there children plus a salary, food and shelter for the families. In that time period there was food and water shortages do to dry weather conditions.
