About

Animal Genetics adds 7 genetics traits to animals that can be passed down to their children. Children will be born with either parent's value inherited modified by a mutation factor.

Selectively breed your animals to be stronger and faster, carry more in caravans, or increase meat/leather/milk/wool yields. Humans have been doing it for 1000s of years, so why not your Rimworld Pawns? Go from Muffalos to Buffalos!

These genes will modify the animals base values by a % value. Adds new Genetics tabs to display all animals/wildlife values, as well as on animals detailing their stat breakdown (see screenshots).

For example, an animal with a 150% Speed gene will move 50% faster than base, or an animal with a 200% Milk/Wool gene will produce 100% more Milk/Wool. Be careful however, as animals can have genes with values under 100%, resulting in a decrease to base values.

The gene range for wild/parentless animals as well as the mutation factor can both be adjusted in game via the mod options menu. Also include two different color schemes when displaying gene values (see screenshots).

In addition to all this, there is also optional support for applying the same genes to humanlike pawns. This should be widely compatible with mods that allow human reproduction. This feature can be turned on in the mod options.

  • Damage - Melee attack damage.
  • Speed - Movement speed.
  • Capacity - Carry capacity and caravan weight.
  • Meat - Meat from butchering.
  • Leather - Leather from butchering.
  • Milk/Wool - Milk/Wool yield.

Compatibility
Plays nice with other mods in testing. Should also be safe to remove and add mid-game.
Requires Harmony.

F.A.Q

Is there an inbreeding penalty?
Not currently, but we may add an optional penalty in the future
Will this work with mod X?
Quite possibly. This mod is designed to not do anything too extravagant. Most mods that add animals will work out of the box.
Can you make this work with humans?
This mod already supports applying genes to humans. This option may be turned on in Mod Options page.
It works with humans, but humans can't have children?
There are mods add support for this. In addition, generated pawns who are related will be generated with similar stats.
Does this mod support Rimworld Version 1.1
Our testing has revealed this mod does appear to support 1.1. However, we do not perform ongoing tests against this version.
Can you blacklist certain animals to prevent this mod from modifying them
You cannot currently blacklist animals with this mod. However we are looking into this.

The wildness option should now be implemented correctly. Due to the complexity to the implementation of the settings in the mod, some of the options may have been reset to their default settings

@Ðagorath As mentioned, the last update added an option to disable wildness but caused issues so that is why I reverted with the info that I would look into fixing it. It often helps to read before posting. There you will also find out that wildness lowers by breeding, not increases.

Ok I did it, it was a ♥♥♥♥ show, but I recovered the stats at last of my main animals and the pair of breeders, will wipe out all other animals and start from the breeders I guess, however I can now see in the genetics of each animal a new "Wilderness" gen added, this is not visible in the Genetics Tab tho.

So now some animals are wilder than normal and others less wilder, at random..., one question here, usually the gen % goes UP over generations, its a good thing because it does provide more stats, but is this the same case for the Wilderness gen?, this would mean animals get wilder over generations wich makes no sense, havent tested if this goes down.

Anyways please give us option to just remove this new gen, I kinda not like it, I like to keep some wilder animals so my animal handlers keep training, I guess is fine if it goes down slowly but now I have some animals wilder than the base value, RNG provided, no heads up, that is what I'm disliking right now.

So, when I removed the mod to test a load and it worked, then I left (its a permadeath save) it saved the game, I re-enabled the mod and left, now I'm back to play but all my animals genetics got reset to randomized values, I do not want that.

I got a backup file but is some days old, so I kind of not want to use it, are the genetics somewhere in the save file so I can copy them from the backup save and put it in the current save? are there any tags or lines I could search in the file to identify individual animal genetics, so at last I can save the important gones, the ones I been breeding.

same error, cant load the game with this mod.
