It's looking at how many rounds you actually survived. Surviving from from round 1 to 30 = 30 rounds. Surviving round 30 to 32 = 2 rounds. So internally yeah it's basically round 1 you're starting on. I think I remember pondering that and figured it wouldn't be that easy to trick the game.

Hey I am from you're bo2 zombies ranking guide. Does setting my round to 30 and then playing help me rank up faster? Or does the game know I started at 30 and then tracks everything from on as 1 all the way up?
