I cannot stress how much of a perfect game WWM is on launch, an impressive feat in and of itself.

Let me summarize how many games in one full package you get (not all, but some come to mind):
- Action-Adventure (ie. Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro, Elden Ring, Dragon's Dogma)
- Story-heavy Adventure (ie. Witcher, Black Myth Wukong, Legend of Zelda)
- Looter/Hack'n'Slash (ie. Nioh, Dynasty Warriors)
- Casual Adventure (ie. Yakuza)
- Roguelite/Deck Builder (ie. Slay the Spire)
- Battle Royale (ie. Naraka Bladepoint)
- MMO (ie. FF14, Lost Ark, Aion, GW2)

Content
The sheer amount of content in WWM is hard to fully comprehend at first glance. Don't get me wrong - it is still a full-on f2p model with heavy monetization in its rawest form. But a title that doesn't charge for the base game to have this much open world, this many PVE and PVP modes, and long-term replayability deserves love & respect from the gaming community. The biggest difference between WWM and all the other slop we've been getting the past few years is one most important factor: quality. With all the western cashgrabs that have been plaguing the industry for the past decade, the Chinese companies seem to be sick of "not listening to what the fans want" and have taken the MMO scene by storm.

Open World Progression
Simply put, you get lost in the world because there's so much to do; and the game motivates you to do it all. The game also has very short load times for the VAST world it throws you into, and allows you to seemlessly swap between solo and multiplayer on the fly. Every activity you engage in - no matter how deep or shallow, easy or hard, short or long - respects your time. Nothing is too difficult, and you can just find content you feel comfortable with and grind for cosmetics in that area. You feel rewarded one way or another and you know that time and effort you put into your character will be worth it in the long run, whether it be manifested through cosmetics you collect, quest progression, or just pure skill you hone with each martial art.

It's just...a beautiful Wuxia game
The performance and design of WWM is nearly flawless. I went in with low expectations since on the surface, it just seemed like a Genshin-Impact clone. But I couldn't be more wrong. The gacha is there, sure, but the pure quality of the game itself overshadows all the negatives by MILES and still pulls you in to experience the full brunt of its world, and then some.

Localization
This is the only downside of Where Winds Meet. As a Korean-American who respect my culture to no end, I understand the frustrations of western releases that do not fully comprehend Asian culture. It's not about racism, it's about upholding tradition. With respect to the English voice cast and localization team, they just dropped the ball; and I don't mean any ill will in saying that no matter how much effort they put in, they were bound to get it wrong one way or another. Unless you have a full team who is well-versed in both American and Chinese cultures, I believe it is difficult to find the perfect blend and properly channel Chinese mythology/culture/traditions through the English language. It's just impossible because they're two different worlds. As such, I highly recommend keeping voice language on Chinese, since the original voice acting really put in the effort into bringing the game to life.

Final Verdict: 10/10 S+
With hundreds of games completed in the last half a decade, I daresay Where Winds Meet is THE perfect game of 2025. I'll most likely play this through the next two years AT LEAST as founder of my guild and come back to it even thereafter. It has brought a long-sought revolution to the MMO genre (which we thought would be dead with the recent NW announcement) and it just has so much content that blends together into a single world, ultimately allowing us to pass up on many other AAA titles if you don't have time to spare throughout the week to play a multitude of games. Not a single aspect made me feel like not enough love was put into the project (even the localization, though bad, showed much effort). Unfortunately, I feel that many players will turn away or not give it a fair shot because of 1) how overwhelming it may seem or 2) the Chinese themes may not seem as interesting to westerners; but in my humble opinion, WWM is bound to stand the test of time in a post-2020 world where games come and go... like the wind.
