If you prefer your game looking beautiful, you are better off buying Monster Hunter World.
If you prefer quite literally anything else. buy this game.

This is my review and its purely my opinion. but this game has Monster Hunter World beat by leaps and bounds compared to World in some of the smallest features. The largest QoL that Rise brings is that the entire game can be played in co-op without having to wait for cut-scenes to finish. Switch skills allow you to build a play style you like with your weapon, whether it be counters, raw damage or elemental damage. (Elemental Great sword is viable with Sunbreak).

Two areas that MHW beats MHR in is graphical fidelity and environmental attention to detail and that is it. The Monsters in World feel more alive and you can spend more time around passive monsters than aggressive monsters. MHW also has the option for ultra textures as a DLC upgrade for PC which really enhances how the game looks. However I believe that if you are playing video games purely for looks you aren't fully enjoying what a game has to offer. Monster Hunter Rise has much more depth than Monster Hunter World. An actual end game in the form of Anomaly Ranked quests, a far more enjoyable casts of characters and its the first Monster Hunter game (afaik) that is available on every platform!

I love Monster Hunter as a game series and I truly do believe that regardless if you love Monster Hunter World, Rise or any of the other Monster Hunter games that Rise is yet another game you can sink your teeth into, the same way a lot of you 5th fleet hunters sunk your teeth into World for the first time.

My starting MH game was Monster Hunter Tri.
My favourite MH game is Generations Ultimate.
My most played MH game at this point is definitely MH Rise.
