It's called Trails of Cold Steel because you'd have to be a very COLD person for this game not to STEAL your heart! ZINGO!

I recently got into the trails series from sky FC remake and I loved it (what an ending btw)

I was recommended ToCS due to it being (relatively) spoiler free compared to the other games in the series as i wait for the 2nd chapter remake.

ToCS has this way of being interestingly written despite being hella troupe-y and cliche at times, it feels like it leans into it. Like I felt the same way to an extent with FC where the writing was simple and even predictable but just the worldbuilding and individual arcs gradually pull you in and create such an interesting overarchcing narrative that was better than the sum of its individual parts, I couldn't help but want to see where things where going.

One critique I have that links to this is the final chapter where it feels like the game needs to fill a jrpg quota and pulls a persona and introduces mechs at the very end, which felt like it was not foreshadowed properly. I also felt the reveal of (the traitor) to be kind of a stretch like some parts in retrospect DO make sense but the voice playing from the airship at the end of Chapter 5 was stupid imo

It may feel dated in some ways for example the graphics which i do get esp since trails is a long series but I genuinely have found it to not hurt my experience at all, Infact I would say the style adds to the charm of the game.

If you like long form story telling and slow burn worldbuilding PLEASE try the Trails series.

I genuinely cannot put into words how excited I am to play through the rest of the series as I try my best to avoid spoilers.
