Electronic Sports World Cup

Der Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) ist eine, mit Ausnahme von 2009, jährlich stattfindende E-Sport-Veranstaltung.

Auf Grund ihrer Größe und der Höhe des Preisgeldes gilt sie als eine der bedeutendsten und renommiertesten ihrer Art. Erstmaliger Veranstalter war das französische Unternehmen Games-Services Ltd. (ehemals Ligarena), heute gehört die Marke dem französischen Event-Veranstalter DIP Communication. 2010 wurde der französische Fahrzeughersteller Peugeot Hauptsponsor.

The Electronic Sports World Cup is a worldwide competition of video games, starting locally with national qualifying, to end with a World Final gathering all the cyberathletes and designed as a live show.

The ESWC was created in France in 2003. From its first editions at Futuroscope, the World Cup has federated video game tournaments on the 5 continents. In 2005 at the Louvre of Paris, then at Paris Bercy in 2006, the event has become a reference for the organization of video game competitions and live match showcases. In 2008, the Grand Final was organized in San José, California. Since 2011, the ESWC wins over the audience at Paris Games Week with 5 days of shows staged in front of more than 250,000 visitors and an Internet audience of million. In 2014, the ESWC takes up the challenge again at Paris Games Week, satisfying both purists of electronic sports and video game fans, in a festive and sportsmanlike atmosphere.

The ESWC has been created by a French team, and has grown as an independent and innovative project, representing gamers and online communities. ESWC is part and pioneer of the electronic sports international movement. ESWC federates company as non-profit organization all over the world; all convinced that video games champions are genuine athletes, precursors of their generation and the new sports of the XXIst century.
