There's no point spending time writing a new decompiler that only works inside Blender when there are such good ones already in existence. Being able to import compiled models directly would be convenient, but it's not worth the very large amount of effort required.

No. You said you'd got something working, what was it? Can you upload the DMX?

There aren't any dramatic changes in terms of modelling, animating, or exporting. The big difference is the manner in which models are compiled but that's not something that the Tools have ever become involved in.

There's certainly no link between Blender and particles.

You've probably imported a delta animation. They are designed to be played on top of other animations, and due to an odditiy in the SMD format that means they are 90 degrees offset. You should correct that before re-exporting.

Yes, that's by design. You can fix the SMDs with a text editor if you want to import what you've already got.

Very long datablock names are now truncated with a warning. This means that all materials on the model this thread is about will end up being the same, but trying to be clever about fixing it didn't seem appropriate.
