More realistic economy

Hey guys.

I've uploaded new update to Steam today. It includes some new modifications, which I'd like to briefly explain.

Level limitations

On a larger note, I've removed the level limitations for purchasing trucks, trailers, components, and accessories. This was a lot of work, as several thousand files had to be modified for this. I hope I haven't forgotten anything. And if so, it will have to be submitted later.

In the unmodified game, the driver (player) has almost unlimited financial resources due to the absurdly high transport remuneration. To keep the players entertained and give them something to do, SCS has implemented a level-based unlocking of trucks, trailers, components, and accessories. This makes perfect sense in standard game mode.

However, I wanted to create a mod that focuses on the economic aspects of a trucker's life. And that also includes the saying "whoever has the money decides where the money goes". You guys have the money (maybe even just borrowed), and if you wave those big wads of cash at people, you can buy whatever you want. Just like in real life. That's why I've removed the level limitations. Letting you guys spend your money on whatever you want, or whatever you need.

This reduces the benefit of experience levels to influencing transport payment. Currently (since v1.13(1.54)) I've set the level-based bonus reward to +0.2%/level. This means that at an experience level of 50, you receive an additional transport compensation of 10%... just because you're so experienced and skilled, and customers are entrusting their goods into your capable hands.

Freight market

I've also made a small modification to the freight market. I've increased the maximum validity of freight orders from 30 to 48 in-game hours. This means you now have up to two in-game days to pick up an accepted freight order. Depending on the specific freight order, this may be less. However, orders with a pickup time of more than 30 in-game hours should now also be generated.

At the same time, I've reduced the probability of ideally matching freight orders for employed drivers from 70% to 50%. In the transport industry, sometimes you just have to take whatever you can get. 50% is still a lot. And I think it's still too much, but I haven't been able to find any relevant statistics about this.

Resale market

I've also made a change to the resale of trucks, trailers, components, and accessories. I've reduced the resale price from 60% to 40% of the new price. This feels closer to reality. SCS has provided only one setting here. Therefore, it's not possible to distinguish between items with varying degrees of resaleability.

I've also extended the availability of offers on the used truck market from 3 to up to 14 in-game days. Likewise, the maximum number of sales offers has been increased tenfold from 18 to 180. The trucks offered can now also be more worn than before (almost ready for the scrapyard). Overall, this modification should result in a more realistic and broader used commercial vehicle market. Let's see if this all works together as well as I thought it would.

Odds and sods

As usual, I've updated the fuel prices. As well as the associated costs for maintenance, insurance, garages, and so on. This adjustment is actually mandatory with every update.

I also reduced the probability of a weight check at a weighing station from 60% to 25%. The previously set default value of 60% seemed significantly too high. I can't imagine, for the life of me, that you would have to stop at more than every second weighing station. Even a 25% probability might still be too high, but I don't want to make the weighing stations completely useless.

I've increased the quit time for employed drivers from 3 to 7 in-game days. This gives more time to respond to dissatisfied drivers (maybe for truck repair).

But enough of that. I wish you continued success on your path to becoming a logistics superpower.
