How many turrets does the POI have? 4, 8, 12, more ? This makes a huge difference! The tier only specifies how many foot soldiers, NOT how hard the POI outer defenses are.
Are you using lasers to take down the shields faster and lots of them? Are you targeting turrets or generators? Are you using good tactics?
Which POI are you attacking? How is your ship built?
There are a lot of factors at play.
I'd also ask what the vessel you're using is made of. You say you lost 24 carbon substrate blocks. Is the vessel all or mostly carbon? If so, that's really not going to work very well. You need some armor because it has more hit points, plus better-armored blocks add to shield strength. Like it or not, this scenario is deliberately designed to discourage the use of all/mostly-plastic ships that rely solely on shields for protection. If that doesn't match your play style, then perhaps this isn't the scenario for you.
I specifically asked if they are playing on a server, as their experience does not sound like the current version of RE2.
Oh! You're probably right about that. My brain goes to Carbon Substrate when I see "CS" because that's the abbreviation I use in my notes when I'm resource-gathering for a particular ship that I want to bring into the factory, keeping track of how much of what stuff I still need. But, in this case, Combat Steel might make more sense as a complaint. But if that's the case then, yeah, something's wacky somewhere. I'll get plastic blocks destroyed from shield pen, but I don't think I've ever had a single combat steel one damaged much, much less destroyed, especially since the last update.
But yeah, I guess we'll have to wait on clarifications from OP.
I talked to the server owner, and he said the only changes he has done in that area is to increase the shield amount on SV's.
Then you will need to speak to your server admin about this. Any modifications to the scenario's configs can cause unintended changes and I have no way of knowing what all they have changed.
It sounds like they also changed the shield penetration rates.
Assuming you meant a Zirax Commercial Starport, those have 1 or 2 flak turrets that have 12.5% shield penetration on their blast damage, or 30 damage of shield penetration per shell.
They also have a couple of artillery turrets that deal 10% shield penetration on their direct damage, or 75 damage per shot. Mind you at a 4.5 fire rate.
Locking the thread as no one else can assist you here. Your server admin changed the scenario configs, they are the only ones who can help you with this.
