In the GeneratedDepictionFXWeapons.ndf they list all the ammunition types, you just need to remove the projectile lines for the weapons that don't use -T ammunition like Artillery/Mortars/ Tanks etc.. You're going for realism, right? There are systems that specify they are using Tracers like the the Anti-Air guns or IFVs using HEIT but then there's the tanks trading tracer shells that always irritates me when you put in some effort positioning only to have them reveal their sneaky spot with a bright orange tracer.. Up to you at the end of the day, it's your mod.. but everything else in it is f*cking great. That would just be the icing on the cake for me.. When i did it i left tracers in small calibre weapons up to .50 so tank coax would still have tracers and mounted guns etc the trails on bombs were difficult but a little trial and error you can replace the effect with something less visible and it works well enough as you've already demonstrated with the current artillery/mortar shells.
for example removing FXProjectile_4( Action = $/GFX/GameFx/fx_traine_obus_125mm_APFDS ) will remove the visible tracer for the T-72 and T-80s -> did a quick proof of concept just now with the Abrams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJ4GUbLwIo0
https://youtube.com/watch?v=JK4TwqJwH3Q This one is from my mod back in EA showing artillery.. I had larger dispersion of shells because of significantly increased suppression values but the lack of tracers is the point of the video lol.
side note: I have a friend in the Army works in and around tanks as a Cavalry Scout, he's said from his own experiences that the only time you're ever going to see a tank shell mid-flight is during training as they use tracer rounds on the range but in a real engagement you don't want the other team seeing where you're firing from, right? this only removes the tracer itself not the muzzle flash or smoke animations or the damage inflicted. Artillery and Tanks can still be spotted in game by sounds and firing animations..
Anyway, love the mod.. Just thought I'd throw the idea out there.. I don't have the time/patience to make my own anymore, so if you go with it cool, if not.. that's cool too, having a good time either way
