Warband is a very old game, with a bad engine. That's why WSE2 is necessary, and some players will also need to adjust their in-game settings and/or free up space on their computer to make sure it has enough resources available to run.
If you are using a laptop or an older computer, that is another reason why you may have problems.
Man I wish it were that simple. Got a 2TB SSD reserved just specifically for workshop mods :D and it's not even 10% full since I just got it last month :P
Honestly I just turned everything down to low and it's...stable-ish...now it's crashing only every tenth battle which...I can live with :)
I know Bannerlord has a lot of issues but MAN would this rock in Bannerlord
Thanks for trying to help anyways!
I'd still recommend freeing up space on your computer regardless and see if it helps. M&B Warband is known to be memory hungry and crashes can occur if the game exceeds available memory. Be sure to check your system's virtual memory settings and ensure it is properly optimized.
The only other suggestions I can make would be to reinstall the game and verify the integrity of your game cache to make sure there are no corrupted files, double check that you installed the mod and WSE2 correctly, make sure you are running the game using the WSE2 launcher instead of the main M&B launcher, update your drivers, and make sure your computer isn't overheating. Otherwise, despite having a powerful system, your PC's hardware may not be meeting the system requirements in one way or another.
I am using a pre-built gaming laptop that I got around 5 or so years ago, and I am able to run the mod without crashes on medium to high settings when using WSE2. Keep in mind that I am running the development version which has a lot more content than version 2.5, and I have Fallout New Vegas installed with a bunch of mods, so if my old gaming laptop can handle it, then theoretically, your system should be able to as well. The only times I have experienced freezes or crashes with WSE2 were when I had another big game installed on top of Fallout and M&B, and after removing it, I was able to play consistently without issue.
Of course you can always join the discord and ask other players for their suggestions. On my part, for the next update, I am going to remove as many things as possible from the mod than can afford to be thrown away, and I'm going to reduce the size of some textures that don't need to be high quality, both of which will help reduce the burden on players' hardware, but I can't guarantee anything.
