Expansion Thoughts
Expansion:
- Add bomber Cockpit
- Add imroved Sensor Packages
- Add a few more weapon types
- Add maneuvering thrusters to allow fighters to be more nimble
- Review adding Fighter Armor
- Graphic Updates
- Review possible setups fighter shield
- Review Adding fighters to the factions

Could there possibly be a way to spread power of the reactors besides putting components side by side? You gave the reactor 1.5 power per second and I kinda wanted to use the entirety of it-

I would be open to this, however I am still getting a good understanding on how to mod the game. I have made some reductions to the power output to balance its usage.

Giving another way to transmit power would also allow you to make fighter craft less blocky. Give them more shape.

Agreed. I wanted to use an area buff, however ran into issues keeping it stable, and decided to publish something working while I continued to experiment. I am looking at making some components that may extend the range of the power buff.

I'm wondering .. without an actual hanger for main ships ... would having a 2x2 TractorBeam work ?
Like for the main ship, with enough power to basically drag/hold the fighters

Also.. I'm not really sure what/why the fighter-radar would have a use. Likewise tbh the 3x different cores, and split Star-reactor and Hyperdrive

One of the things I really liked when I first saw the mod was the simple design efficiency of the parts. Cockpit, core, thrusters, weapons. Simple.

The 2 added shields have a good use and can make interesting design conundrums ...

.. but I think you need to limit the cores/hyperdrive. Maybe even just back to two items. Core > StarCore progression. With "4" variations of these parts I think it's a bit too confusing.

@RustyDios Something like a docking clamp maybe? A way to kinda merge the fighter to the main ship and then detach when needed, if that is possible.

Yeah, I saw a similar concept idea posted in the discord with "mini-craft and hanger bays" using the big tractor beams ...

I think there can be some clean up, and I am weighing dividing the mod into a basic, and advanced mod.
The radar was an ask from a friend. The Hyperdrive was done before I had the Corvette Mod, and I think it has found a better home there.

only had the thought today but, may be a little random but, ever thought about a mini mining laser of some sort? just so you could make maybe a small fighter that salvages pieces of ship's instead of just straight up destroying them with normal lasers? or even just to mine, even if at a very low power and mine speed, would make for rather interesting start's that have alot less money to start off with. :D

I have been kicking around a similar idea, however I may make that within its own mod to allow this one to stay focused on Fighters.

Please do post it. Having a working example would give me more insight.
