Game won't launch with new base game update
after the most recent update to the base game, it won't launch when using the mod. is this a problem of my own doing or should i just wait for the mod to be updated?

Are you referring to the 1.0.1 update from a few days ago or a more recent one? Because I checked the game a few hours ago and it was fine.
I suggest to resubcribed to diplomacy and its required mods, and then check
