This thread is meant for discussion regarding the balance of the XCW Mod.

Please be aware that this mod is absolutely intended to be a difficulty increase, but that doest mean it can't be a polished and sophisticated difficulty increase.

Me and a friend is playing Avorion and we had to remove the mod. We haven't passed the barrier yet and systems get constantly invaded by Xotan that completly wipes the system in a matter of minutes. The system owners have no chance of defending. About 30 or more ships warp in, including carriers, performance drops from 140 fps down to below 50 due to all the ships and fighters.
We also had an instance with a bugged system with about 1500 Xotan ships, we managed to reset the system but it happened.

This mod should help with NPC sectors being weaker to the Xsotan.

The infinite spawn thing, should hopefully have been fixed recently.

i was actually trying to find why things kept disappearing in our server and why any player ships left unattended were always destroyed, i will agree there is a massive balance issue, i have watched sectors gets demolished and the reason is that the Xos ships warping in and attacking in a trinium region had about 15-20k more firepower than literally any other ship the faction had. maybe some kind of region lock?

i added this to my single player game, which i have maybe 300 hours in, so it was a cool addition for me at that stage, i had a friend buy the game, we started a server and added the mod, we have lost the shipyard already in the starting sector and theres really not much i can do about it. its the beginning of the game.

@cassie , ive tried to deal with the invasions but for some reason they seem to come fairly often and end up destroying everything in the sector. Im spammed with hundreds of fighters until i can kill off the corvettes, and ive tried multiple station mods to increase their durability/damage output to at least be able to kill off some of the ships on their own but nothing seems to work. I will go to different turret factories to see what bps are available and by the time ive looked at a bunch and tinkered with modifying them to my likes, here comes the invasion and holy hell breaks out. And as with all other encounters... the faction stations are obliterated therefore making my turret research pointless.

There is one mod ive not tried yet which is the invuln stations mod but id like to be able to crush a faction on my own should i decide to at some point.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of fighters and the amount of ships that spawn in these encounters? I usually get 30-40 with about 5-10 fighter spawning ships.

And is there a way in the configs for stations i can ensure they are beefed up?

Trying to target the main ships is a serious PITA due to the hundreds of fighters that are on my ass the entire time.

Is it specifically the fighters that are causing you the problems?
Have you tried running my StationChange or Original Turret Balancing Mod?

What do you mean by invasion, do you mean the actual post-WHG invasion with the prototype, 'Invasion Ship's which appear as mini-bosses or the standard Xsotan attacks?

Well the fighters just end up chasing me all over the sector and being there is so many of them that it makes using a keybind to switch to next target a super pita. Unless theres a way to exclude fighters from the closest enemy keybind.

But the real problem is the overwhelming number of ships and the stations inability to survive. This is the one where you get all of the invasion ships, cruisers, corvettes, destroyers etc. This is much more substantial than the normal 3-6 ships that you see most of the time.

WIthout fail, these guys will show up in a sector when im browsing thru the stations and just nuke everything. I am about to lower the difficulty down to see if that helps. Right now it was set to veteran.

Ive tried those mods you listed as with other station mods (not all at the same time mind you in order to avoid any conflitcs) in an attempt to give them a chance to live but no matter what, i cant kill the ships fast enough to be of any use to the faction sector i am in. Ive been trying to assemble a fleet to help ward these events off but i keep getting crushed even with 50m hp shields and 3-4m hull. I can nuke all of the ships fairly quickly except for the invasion ship types which you say are mini bosses. Usually i get around 5-7 of those and even with my ability to basically 1 salvo kill all of the other ships, these take a concentrated focus fire for a bit before they finally die. Ive even tried to focus on weakness properties but it seems like that doesnt really help at all.

Dont get me wrong... I love the mod, I love that theres tough fights, I just feel like i am a harbinger of death to any factions sector i stop and do some window shopping in :(

As for strategies, my first priority is to get rid of all the corvettes and Cruisers. Im not sure which one of those is actually deploying the fighters but they are all easy to kill so i hit them all. Im guessing its the corvettes based on my last battle i had. From there i work on the other easy stuff so i can focus on the mini bosses last.

Edit - Forgot to add, im using a sector entity viewer mod like the one you get in the strategy map. Thats been the most helpful way to target outside of the keybind for targets. Otherwise i would prolly be screwed having to keybind click thru a few dozen fighters lol

now that im thinking about it, i might try adding a defensive station of my own in one of these sectors and just arm the hell out of it and see if that helps the factions.

on a side thought - is there a determination on when the invasion attacks trigger based on alliances? I run all of my ships thru my alliance since i can share stuff with my friend easier that way. Just wondering if your mod fixates on alliances as a priority or not.

we just restarted a new galaxy for other reasons. Give me a few days to see if this occurs again with the new world?
