Focal point is great actually
As this is a mod, very much free for everyone that owns black mesa - also pretty cheap; we all need to chillax complaints first.

Secondly, yes complaints are good - within feedback. Giving feedback online is hard, but remember you're adressing the hard, hard work of lots of people. No need to call the newest episode "horrifingly bad"

Now. for the good stuff.

I absolutely adore the care and detail put into this work, the landscape - while sometimes disorienting; is mesmerizing. I must have been in awe at least 10 times, with the grand showcases of the enviroments. Going into an area was always a joy, seeing all the nooks and crannies - going to them, and slowly acending or decending felt purposeful.

Focal point got hard, pretty frustrating actually, but I'm pretty surprised that the team managed to build new puzzles! Even if it took me forever to actually get the satchel charge one to actually work. But it made me feel smart, whereas it's quite easy to make a puzzle feel like you've been dumbed down.

The enemies are so numerous, and hard, but the final portal fight is so satisfying, as I've finally got ammunition for the rifle to actually easily shoot down controllers! It's like classic valve "blueballing" for not giving you anything but the rockets ammunition for the big fight.

The gigant black mesa base on xen was incredibly cool, especially with the slightly creepy and intimidating introuction of the grunts.

Point of this post was to say, I really, really enjoyed focal point. And I was a bit mad seeing at least two discussions just lambasting it, without much of it being feedback oriented.
I hope the discord fares better, and thank you so much for doing an amazingly cool job to all of the dev team. I can't wait for the rest!

it visually is incredible and a lot of the set pieces areas are super good but it needs a lot of balancing and more playtesting I feel like.

the HP of a lot of the new Xen enemies and amount of ammo needs to be adjusted throughout.

Also think that overall this chapter is great, especially Grand finale battle - it feels very real and enemy pressure intimidating enough without being overwhelming. Final final battle a bit confusing though - is it necessary to shoot controllers or just make a timed jump? Still well done.

But compared to previous chapters Focal point leaves mixed vibes: way to much arena battles and obligatory 'elevator level', both of which makes you feel you are being force fed with gameplay. And new colored lesions - it may seem devs are mocking original CC's idea - parasite growth sucking sap from vines, now it's just rgb bio-buttons. Puzzles involving it seem a bit forced. Also new bullsquids - they just suck - green-thing ones have Gonarch attack but smaller and a part superficially dedicated just to present them; red-things ones exist just to be blown up the moment they appear on screen. It won't be so sad, except for the fact that there is a really cool new creature - electro-eyehound, which seem a bit lacking on appreciation and screen time it deserves(no, like really, both idea of "electrifyed" eyehound and it's lingering attack seem quite neat).

If devs going to tweak some stuff - I'm on "crane kind of confusing" bandwagon, had to spend quite some time trying to find how to access carrying platform "the proper way", before just rush-jumping onto it. And last alien grenade receptacle puzzle - had to check forum to see that you supposed to bounce it of the green wall (just this one puzzle for the entire game btw); the section where you carry grenade through a door does not cover it at all.

In the end, I want to thank HECU Collective - for that they done out of sheer passion - Blue Shift, despite some rough edges, provides fun and experience on a triple-a game level!

Help please. I am stuck in one of the puzzles in focal point. I have jumped and fought my way to the floating rock (ish) with the two bombed-out bases on it. The whatever keeps pounding away and I have run out of ideas. I crawled all over the rock and cannot for the life of me figure out where to go. There is some type of device with a frame outline of a crystal. Am I supposed to work with that?

OK, I figured it out. I am all the way up to the Focal Point facility now. I guess that I need to open the door to the generator, but I'm stumped. Based on all of the health and ammunition laying around, I am thinking that a boss fight will be triggered soon.

I really liked xen in blueshift. I dont think either the puzzles are too hard or the enemies. I only spend some time in the 1324 computer puzzle in the base. Other than that there are many green health puddles. Ammo is a little scarce sometimes but it forced me to use all my weapons.
