All in all I think you'll be downloading it though.
You could maybe delve into the mod and change it.
As I understand it unit stats are in xml. I guess packed into the mod file somehow which is where modbuddy comes in. I'm a business applications developer/team lead and never messed with civ v mods.
This thread discusses editing the regular game data:
http://forums.2k.com/showthread.php?91033-How-to-edit-units-techs-resourses
I would imagine the mod overlays that data with replacement units and stats.
Assassins are also marked as not being able to capture cities.
You probably want to fix that whilst you're there.
Or play neutral / good and forget assassins.
Evil kind of has another problem in that the instant kill fzoul what's his name gets can make ents ( possibly other units as well ) unkillable. A rather more serious problem than losing 2 strength since you end up with fzoul and super ent in the same hex. Game breaker.
Or
Give the GNK version a go.
No quests but I think the simpler religion is more interesting since you can win without fighting at all. Fighting is too easy once you work out the optimum approach unit mix and the AI's weaknesses.
Or play another game or mod for a few months and hope the author fixes the issue.
We were both playing as the Orcs. ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE[/b].
2. The unique hero, because a priest of Bane is almost as tough as the fighter, raises happiness and heals to boot
3. Ranger, for the happiness boost and because someone has to walk around questing
4. Mage, because at some point, one does get a fourth hero slot
I have to say, the orcs start hungry and poor, but they are so defensible that they can just crush those who decide to bully them, and then come out of the Underdark to raid and raze...
The way I played my last game, I had a dozen cities underground, and a few choice occupied capitals above. Too bad there seems to be a bug with the Spellplague.
