STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

Awakening of the Rebellion 2.11.9: Jump To Hyperspace
Galactic map FPS speed/stall issue
having a huge intermittent fps drop off/stall lasting a few seconds at least once or twice per 10 seconds. FPS Goes from 60 to 1 . My game is at week 350. No crashes yet, but is almost unplayable. No issue in battles or before week 340. Tried slowing the galactic speed up and down. no change. tried to set the game to real time CPU priority and limit game only two cores then tried four. no help. maxes out a single core 95-100%. core i7 9700k turbo boosting at 4.2 GHZ.

This game is pretty old and was only ever designed to use one core. So, it will never use your additional cores no matter how many cores if you have prioritizing it.

As for the stuttering, I know in the past, mods like Republic at War always crashed in late game because there was just too much going on in the background for the game engine to handle. I don't know what (if any) advances modders have made (or with petroglyph's steam updates), but you may just be hitting a hard limit of modded gameplay for AotR for your computer. Especially if you are playing one of the large maps. Perhaps a smaller one can last longer in terms of stability, but they may also go quicker with less planets.

Maybe someone else has some tips or tricks on something you can do to give you a couple of weeks more in game.
