Found a spot where something was buried, looked around for a shovel, got a bunch of ingredients (and the shovel) and went back to the mound and uncovered Hugh.
Got into the crypt, killed some spiders, talked about the wrappings, found the thief, and got to working on the solvent. Ran around for a while trying to find Hawthorn. This is when I went to the storage area and got some other ingredients. Eventually I found the Hawthorn after looking in the comments section and managed to make a solvent after a while. I freed the thief and she still wouldn't give me the wrappings so I had her stand on the pressure plate while I dumped a bunch of oil into the hallway. I set her on fire and ran down the hallway, leading her to the oil. I killed her and took the wrappings and threw the water barrel onto the other pressure plate which opened the door to the treasure. I took the treasure, gave back the wrappings, and left.
Some spoiler comments below:
I didn't find it a problem to find the components except the hawthorne which I had to look up here as it was hidden in the tree. Apart from that nice idea about crafting puzzles!
I also chose to kill the thief but when she died she froze in the air. I had knocked her down when it happened so I don't know if that caused it. I loved her ghost chatting to the undead at the end!
I saw the well at the corner of the graveyard but I couldn't go down even though I saw the rope. Perhaps thats how the thief entered but it seemed to imply I could go down that way as well? Everytime I clicked to do it, it just provided the description.
I realise I've missed things - for example I couldnt talk to the rats so that might've been interesting (loved their names :) ). I also know there was a door at the end which I couldn't open but I knew there was a pressure panel as I heard it somewhere which is probably tied to it I wonder if I could've found it myself but the thief's ghost hinted thats all she wanted for me to do later.
I also jumped out of my seat when the spiders came, great jump scare :)
Just read the first comment and looks like I missed out on the treasure! Serves me right for not hearing out and killing her. But its great you could agree and then backstab her as the other player did. What great possibilities!.
Either way great straight forward early adventure, enjoyed it :)
Yeah, the hole was just meant to be a fun little polish on the level design and not intended to be an entrance. We probably could have done better there to make that more apparent, sorry for any confusion
Not a problem whatsoever - please tell me you're working on a far bigger project because you're clearly very talented and I'd love to play more of your stories! :) Thanks again!
-Swift-, very kind of you to say. We are indeed working on a more ambitious project. It will be a campaign set in the Ultima universe and looking to introduce some unique mechanics. It will take a while but hopefully we'll get there, thanks for asking.
Sound brilliant - Ultima VIII was my first Ultima and I have very fond memories of Ultima Underworld - all the best :)
As for killing Nimue, its about reneging on a deal - by that time you've looked high and low for the alch components and the last thing you want to do is something for a thief that caused the situation in the first place. Off with her head :)
It probably doesn't help I'm playing Sebille in the main game, so there isn't many second chances with that girl ;)
Maybe I should rework her dialogue then ;-) But thanks for playing and for all the feedback!
