9S510M Buk-M3 Command Post Vehicle

Developed as part of the 9K317M Buk-M3 modernization program, the 9S510M is the division-level command post of the system, acting as the “brain” that links radars, launchers and higher-level air-defense networks. It evolved from earlier Buk command posts (9S470 / 9S510) but adds new digital electronics, faster data-processing and expanded multi-channel control.

The first Buk-M3 battalions equipped with 9S510M reportedly entered Russian service around 2016, with further deliveries and refinements continuing through the late 2010s and 2020s, including the export-oriented “Viking” variant.

The command post can distribute up to 36 simultaneous target channels to its fire units, while associated sensors (such as 9S18M1-3 and 9S36M radars) allow tracking of hundreds of air objects and engagements out to roughly 70 km in range and 35 km in altitude, depending on missile type.

Built on a tracked GM-5969-family chassis, the 9S510M retains cross-country mobility comparable to other Buk-M3 vehicles, allowing the entire battalion to maneuver with the units it protects.

In game, the 9S510M is a dedicated Ground Control vehicle of the Buk-M3 family. It is the most capable radar system of the Buk-M3 family, fitted with an AESA radar capable of up to 40 km Search and Track. While not being the most relying radar system, especially when the target is actively chaffing, it gives a great situational awareness view as it has a map view of the found targets.

The vehicle is fitted with a camera, only for tracked target visualization. Also it is the only vehicle within the Buk M3 family having a HMD video output which allows you to select targets by looking around.

All vehicles have implemented a system that if target is lost it will continue leading the target based on its last known coordinates
